- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always start by learning about their background, goals, musical preferences, and where they see themselves as a singer both presently and moving forward. I then take them through a few simple exercises to take inventory of their range, tone/timbre, etc.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an undergraduate degree in classical voice, and graduate degrees in musical theater voice and voice pedagogy. I am constantly learning about the voice and working to expand my own singing and teaching abilities.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
In undergrad, a young actor that I had worked with asked if I would give her a few voice lessons. I had never done that before but thought I could be helpful. After that, a local theater school hired me as the advanced staff voice teacher, a position I held until I left for grad school at New York University, where I studied musical theater and voice pedagogy.
