    This past Friday June 16th, I was scheduled for my biweekly cleaning. Craig was a NO CALL NO SHOW. I emailed, messaged, texted and called. I have yet to receive an answer VERY Unprofessional and disappointing behavior. Craig and his helper did a great job the two times they came.

    Jill, I'm very sorry we failed to show up for your appointment. We have been transitioning to a paperless scheduling system and unfortunately your appointment slipped through the cracks.     Scheduled an appointment to have my home deep cleaned before a holiday weekend as I was hosting a family event. Stayaway sent me a text message 30 minutes before my appointment to say they were overbooked and couldn't keep the appointment. The worse part is that they didn't even bother to give me a courtesy phone nor a courtesy reply to my test message after I expressed my dissatisfaction.

During the month of June we experienced some growing pains but have since hired and trained additional staff to handle our growing work load. We have also transitioned to a fully computer based scheduling system that will serve to prevent overbooking in the future.     I chose Stayaway Cleaning to clean both an apartment I was leaving and a house I was moving into. Both places were completed in such a professional and Grade A cleaning. Craig -Stayaway Cleaning cleaned both carpets and kitchen and bathroom in old apartment and left it immaculate. The landlord called to thank us so much for leaving the apartment looking brand new. Craig also shampooed carpets in the new house we moved into and revived a couch in which we thought for sure we would have to replace. I would recommend Craig- Stayaway Cleaning 100% and in the future will ONLY use his company. So very pleased . Thank you Craig .👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    Friendly person but less than mediocre carpet cleaning skills. I used Stayaway's carpet cleaning services to get rid of pet stains. After 2.5 hours, the urine stains are still there. Craig told me that if he can't get rid of them, no one can. Wrong. I spoke with my building maintenance man. He told me that pet stains are, in fact, removable. He referred me to a different carpet cleaning company. I wasted time and money with Stayaway.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Craig Mannella, the owner and main operator, has 7 years experience in the cleaning and restoration industry. Over that time Craig has "seen it all and cleaned it all." Craig was there following Hurricane's Irene and Sandy performing disaster relief work and has extensive experience dealing with post-fire/flood clean up's, mold remediation's, carpet cleaning, hoarders and just about every other situation that could affect a home or business. In addition, Craig maintains 4 certifications from the IICRC, the cleaning industry's leading training and certification organization. This training in residential cleaning, carpet cleaning, deodorization, and water damage restoration ensure client's needs are served by a true cleaning professional.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
About 8 years ago, the owner began working in the cleaning and restoration industry. Being on call 24/7 in this truly dynamic and diverse working environment prepared him for anything and everything. One day would be spend steam cleaning carpets, the next assisting a distraught homeowner who was the recent victim of a major flood or fire. During this time, Craig Mannella earned numerous industry certifications and learned of his true passion and skill which is serving and anticipating the needs of clients of all types. More recently Craig saw an unmet need for professionally trained cleaning technicians to serve Long Island. After establishing a solid reputation within vacation rental market, referrals grew the company's client list to include not only residential properties but property management companies, offices and houses of worship as well.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Stayaway Cleaning's client list is as diverse as the services we offer, all of which adhere to our main principles of professionalism and attention to detail. We have cleaned private homes, apartments, summer homes, high end rental properties, offices, and warehouses.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Stayaway Cleaning was recently entrusted with the top to bottom cleaning of a 10,000 square foot auto shop area of a high end car dealership located in St. James. Our client was so happy with our initial work, we were then honored to be asked to perform the painting of the entire warehouse we had been prepping it for.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Please keep in mind this fact.. the cleaning industry is the "WILD WEST"! What we mean by that is it's one of the last completely self regulated industries. Although this may not be the case for much longer, Stayaway Cleaning is well ahead of the curve in that respect. We are professionally trained by industry leaders on chemical free (green) cleaning practices and state of the art cleaning technologies. We highly recommend customer go with an insured and bonded company and not independent, uninsured cleaners. These cleaners pose serious risks in your home or business should an accident of any kind occur. Many property owners are unaware their homeowner's insurance policy would be responsible should the worst case scenario happen. We also encourage prospective client's to avoid hiring franchise cleaning companies. High franchise fees are inevitably passed on to the consumer causing unnecessarily high prices for inferior services. In addition, our training and certifications meets or far exceeds current franchise training standards and practices.

Are you insured? Bonded? What industry related certifications do you hold? What guarantees do you offer? Is your cleaner aware the pH levels of their products and why that's important? Do their vacuums carry the Carpet and Rug Institute seal of approval?
