I wish I could give them 10 stars instead of 5!!! THIS BAND WAS INCREDIBLE!!! We started working with Seth from The Uptown Groove last year when we asked them to play at our wedding and the entire experience from start to finish was amazing. Seth met with us on multiple occasions and helped us nail down every detail of anything sound-related from the ceremony mics and music, through cocktail hour and dinner and on into the reception. Seth went so far above and beyond in so many ways, we could never thank him enough. For example, we wanted to use a song for our first dance that wasn't even a recorded by the artist anywhere and had only ever been performed live at concerts. All we needed to do was get him a link to one of these performances on YouTube and he took care of not only getting the song for us to use, but cleaning it up and taking the crowd noise out of it. That's just one small example of how much he helped us in the planning of our big day. Seth and his violinist played wonderfully during our ceremony and then transitioned right into cocktail hour where the jazz trio portion of the band played music for our guests. We already started getting compliments about how great the band was and the show hadn't even started yet! There were even a few guests slow dancing along to the cocktail hour music, something I've never seen before! After Seth introduced us and we had our first dance, he switched into DJ mode and played dinner music while everyone ate. Then it was on to a few more dances and cake cutting, all musical accompaniments taken care of by Seth. The main event started and the band was AMAZING! Each member of the band is so incredibly talented...they will blow you away! They have an extensive list of songs they play that are all over the musical spectrum. Plenty of old and new material and all of the classics you'd want a band to play for dance music at a wedding! Our guests packed the dance floor and it stayed that way all night. I personally couldn't wait to get out there and dance myself, and I don't dance, in fact I pretty much stink at it but I didn't care, these guys moved me! The band played 3 sets between about 8:30pm and 12am and only took 2 very short breaks during which they played songs we had requested previously. Each time they came back to start up a new set, everyone was there to dance with them. We have received so many compliments from our guests on how amazing this band was at our wedding and how perfectly they brought the day together for us. I can't wait to go see this band again out around town and enjoy their music and relive my perfect wedding day again and again. If you are thinking of getting a band for your wedding, this is 100% the one you are looking for. They take care of everything, you get a band, a DJ and an emcee all in one and the price was absolutely reasonable. There simply is no substitute for a live band at your wedding, there simply is no substitute for The Uptown Groove. Thank you thank you thank you for an incredible experience!!!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Regarding Pricing: We are a high-quality, experienced, dynamic and professional band playing events in Western and Central New York. Prices for a Corporate Event or Festival range from $900-$2800. Popular 6-hour packages for Wedding Receptions range from $2800-$4000 and include DJ/MC services, etc. Similar bands (in this elite echelon) cost $1000-$3000 more than us. This makes us an amazing "value", but with ALL the quality and professionalism you deserve!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
There is no standard process. Clients contact us weeks in advance of an event...or YEARS in advance in some cases. The timing certainly changes how we proceed. Some clients are in town, others live out of state. This also changes how we proceed. Ideally, a phone call early on in the process is highly productive and saves everyone involved a lot of time and potential for miscommunication. Coming out to see our band LIVE and meet us is a critical step I always suggest, yet it is not always feasible for out of town clients or clients looking to book in emergency scenarios. In summary, calling is best, but online media (pics, song lists, audio, video, etc) all exist as well and we are always available via email or messages if that is desirable to a potential client.

We have 10 years of wedding experience as a band and each member has roughly 20 years of PROFESSIONAL performance experience, individually.
