FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I don't do estimates on the back of a napkin, I use computer programs and Means data. My estimates, unless there are unforeseen issues that arise, or client changes, are usually 'dead on'. I do not play the change order game so common to the contractor herd. This typically makes my estimates appear to be higher up front, but you will thank me in the long term as I hate surprises, and nothing upsets a client faster. In other words...forty years of experience has made me extremely thorough, and I do not play games.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We meet, discuss the project, and see if we are a good 'fit' for each other. I am very sensitive to the clients that I will and will not work with. I do not take every client, and every client does not take me. Remodeling is a very intimate relationship between client and contractor, and I am not a handyman, and I am not YOUR employee. I am 100 percent in charge of the project, or not at all. There must be mutual respect and boundaries, and an 'ABSOLUTE' meeting of the minds. Anything less will not work for me. If I choose not to work with a client, it's nothing personal, but in order to do the best possible job for my clients, I have to be able to get along with you. The work is just to difficult for any other scenario.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Forty years in construction. Building construction and architectural drawing program from PCC. Worked for many different contractors for years before I ever thought about my own business. Anal retentive perfectionist.
