Goals
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My objective is to get to know you and what makes you tick before instructing you on any diet changes. I want to get to know you as an individual in order to make your plan of action fit to you as a unique person and work seamlessly into your daily routine. I will take this time to familiarize myself with medical history or eating habits in order to build a successful nutrition plan and to make realistic goals. Here are some questions I may ask you: Have you seen a Dietitian in the past? What is your job like? What are your hunger and fullness signals like? What does a “normal” day of eating look like to you? Do you ever experience emotional/stress eating? Are you ever faced with any GI distress? Do you like to cook? What are your stress and sleep habits like? What are your favorite foods? What are your trigger foods? I will share my story with you and struggles with obesity and blood sugar regulation. I will not pass judgement and will listen, assess the situation, and help you in the best way they can. Answer honestly so that you can get the most out of your session with the dietitian. The more that the dietitian knows about you and your life goals. I will email written materials that you can print or use on the computer. As a dietitian, I see people on a regular basis who actually look forward to meeting with me. They are completely open to my feedback and suggestions. Every client appointment I have is literally an absolute pleasure and I get to know people from all different walks of life. I get to help people be healthier and happier. Whether that means helping them laugh or helping them be the healthiest version of themselves. Growing up as a very unhealthy child and an obese young adult, I can motive and empower almost anyone.

I was referred to Miss Peters because of my high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and being overweight. I have a work schedule that fluctuates, so my eating habits are not very regular. Miss Peters put me on a very manageable diet that has showed great results over the past 6 months. My cardiologist was very happy with the results and he is hoping with my next check up that he can take me off my blood pressure medicine. I can't thank Miss Peters enough!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I prefer to get a strong understanding of your current habits first with a few questionnaires. I believe classifying foods as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ may foster unhealthful eating behaviors because we want what we can't have. I prefer monitoring calorie intake with some instruction on better food choices and nutrient balancing. My counseling is very individualized because I believe that everyone is individual. I have some websites that I love that will give you some menus with grocery lists and we can do a few menus based on your food preferences so that you know how to create your own. So to summarize, I will likely give you a calorie prescription based on your height/weight and desired weight loss. We will review portions and food groups and design a meal pattern based on your environment.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Bachelors Degree from Florida State University in Nutritional Science and many years of experience counseling patients and clients.
