Introduction: COVID-19 EDIT:
-Private Teaching: I offer lessons both in person and online through Zoom. In-person students can expect accommodations on my end to minimize the risk of spreading COVID (masks, hand sanitizer, sanitized piano, distancing, etc.).
-Event Music: I understand the risks of hosting any kind of gathering at this time and am willing to work with prospective clients to ensure the highest possible level of safety for all involved. The musicians I hire are all people I have worked with for a number of years, and I can vouch for and guarantee their professionalism. My bands will adhere to COVID safety protocol (mask-wearing, social distancing, cleanliness, etc.). I unfortunately cannot commit to work your event if a reasonable amount of distance (at least 6 feet) cannot be maintained between the band and guests throughout the duration of the event. Please contact me if you have any questions. :)
I am a freelancing pianist, arranger, instructor, and student. Although I specialize in jazz piano and composition, I offer instruction to all beginning and intermediate instrumentalists who hope to express creative ideas through both written music and improvisation. As a classical pianist, I have performed many great piano works by Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Bach, Debussy, Ravel, Scriabin, Beethoven, and others. As a jazz pianist, I have transcribed and studied much of the immense jazz repertoire, some of my favorites being Bill Evans, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Brad Mehldau, and Bud Powell. I've been privileged to perform alongside several jazz greats including Wycliffe Gordon, Randy Brecker, Sean Jones, Dave Sanborn, Eric Marienthal, Kris Johnson, and John Petrucelli. In Spring 2020 I graduated from the University of Utah, earning a Bachelor's degree in Music with an emphasis in Jazz Composition.
In addition to teaching, I perform frequently at a variety of events, be it public concerts, weddings, corporate events, recitals, etc. Again, my specialty/fav is jazz, but I also frequently perform r&b, pop, rock, top-40 hits. If you need a band for your event, I can certainly put one together for you. Please contact me to talk details -- prices will vary.
To see me play, you can head over to excellenceconcerts.org. I've had the good fortune to perform a number of times for the Excellence in the Community concert series at the Gallivan Center in Salt Lake City. They started live-streaming their shows, and their website now has free full concerts you can watch. You'll find me performing a Dave Brubeck tribute with saxophonist John Petrucelli's quintet as well as a gospel-themed performance with trumpeter Evan Taylor and the Ministry.
