Introduction: Bay Area based software developer specialising in working on, upgrading, and repairing WordPress sites. Some things I've done so far: * I've had a client that was stuck with an old version of the Genesis parent theme, because they had their tweaks embedded directly into it rather than into a separate child theme, and if they upgraded they'd delete their tweaks. I extracted these tweaks into a new Genesis child theme I made just for them, and then they were able to upgrade their Genesis core independently. * I've had another client whose custom business logic was written directly into their WordPress instance, so they could not even upgrade their WordPress core. I've extracted that custom business logic into a separate plugin, and then they were to upgrade their WordPress core independently. * I've customized widgets and shortcodes for several clients, to add custom functionality to these widgets that was otherwise not available. I've worked with shortcodes intended to display a list of filtered posts, but the client needed to filter the posts slightly differently. I was able to create a solution for them without tweaking the package with the original functionality, so they could still upgrade it independently. * I've resolved very weird bugs involving conflicts between 2 or more plugins. I've submitted patched to WordPress core and to plugin vendors. Even if they did not want the patches, I was still able to come up with robust work-arounds for my clients compatible with the existing environment. * I've improved page layout and made sites mobile-friendly for several clients. I configured galleries that work well across both Androids and iOS devices, and download the minimum required image sizes for efficiency on slow connections. * I've setup online contact forms. * The way I typically work with clients is I setup a fork of their site on my development server. This way I can try out changes on this development sandbox, and have the client see them before they get deployed to their production site. It also serves as a great tested backup of the client's production site. I had a client who had their website hosted by GoDaddy, and it was lost without a trace. GoDaddy did not keep backups. I just cloned them a new production site onto WP Engine from the development instance, and they were back in business. * I've configured custom permalinks for filtering posts / pages / etc in custom ways, I've configured custom post types, added custom meta data, etc. * I've troubleshooted wp-config.php configuration problems. I've backuped / cloned / copied / transferred / fixed MySQL databases. I've even helped my clients work with their DNS records. * I've configured HTTPS / SSL. * I've tested and optimized website performance by combining resources and configuring caching with WP Super Cache. This improved the clients' search ratings. Also improved search engine ratings with the Yoast SEO plugin. * I've deployed new sites over old in such a way that the old URLs would still work and 301-redirect to their new analogies. * Debugged and resolved user authentication problems. * So far there hasn't been anything weird or not working about any WordPress install that I have not been able to understand and figure out and come up with a solution for. * Published 4 WordPress plugins onto the WordPress plugins repository, one of which is in use by 800+ sites, another by 300+ sites. I'm local to the Bay Area, so we'd be in the same time zone for phone calls, and you can see me face to face. I really like it when my clients are happy because I implemented a valuable solution for them, and / or fixed what's broken, so they can go back to running their business.

We highly recommend Marat. Our website went down one day and was not functioning. When we called our host we were told we didn't have the updated Genesis revision required. We tried but we were unable to fix it on our own. We were searching online for the right person who could help our small business. We couldn't afford to throw thousands of dollars at a major designer to fix our website. We needed someone who would guide us through a process over time to control costs and our time investments, as we still had to do our day jobs. I went through a lot of ads and called a lot of people. After speaking with Marat on the phone I was hopeful, when we met, I knew I found the right man for the job. Marat was professional, knowledgeable, and available to help. Marat helped us make a plan moving forward. For the first phase, he fixed our child theme, got us updated to the latest version of Genesis, and got our website back online. During the next phase Marat implemented a new gallery to help showcase our business to customers across multiple mobile devices. He walked us through everything we needed help with. Marat's customer service was always top notch. Marat returned phone calls and emails promptly. He understood what I wanted and implemented it efficiently. Again, we highly recommend Marat, he will always be our go to web guy.
