FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Prices vary depending on whether lessons are in-home or at my studio. Additional expenses include books and other teaching materials and cost on average about $40 per year. Recitals are free and are held at least twice yearly. There are also fees for events and exams sponsored through Music Teachers Association of California. These events are encouraged, but optional.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Before the first lesson I like to have an over-the-phone interview with prospective students. A tuned piano at home and willingness to practice every day are requirements for admission to my studio. I supply materials for the first lesson. Students may then purchase materials from me or on their own, based on my recommendations.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
13 years of teaching private lessons. 7 years of teaching at university level. BA, MA in Piano Performance, DMA expected December 2018.
