What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
If you visit the SEO or web design pages of my website, they will have links to portfolios that show results from previous clients. There is also a link to my current resume as well as certifications I have completed in my vertical.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
we started with two main services, those being search engine optimization and web design. It eventually grew to Encompass more than that because we want a client to be able to manage their entire web presence Under One Roof if necessary.
While growing our web services profile, Analytics became more and more important. Using analytics properly you can guarantee growth over a period of time using content experiments. This isn't a guessing game, it is literally a guaranteed way to improve over and over and over.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We have experience in multiple industries with organizations that vary greatly in size. Clients include a talented local artist and a large, multi-billion dollar organization.
My process works regardless of client size because every solution is custom-designed according to individual needs.
As an example, our industry experience includes manufacturing, party/event suppliers, healthcare and telecommunications.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Be sure to examine a potential provider's portfolio of work.
Can the consultant define the process to complete your project? What documentation is available for client review?
Make sure the potential consultant can communicate effectively without technical jargon.
Always review at least two providers before making your choice.
As far as SEO is concerned, never trust a company that
guarantees number one rankings.
For web design, be wary of web designers that charge a few hundred dollars for a complete website.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
For web design, what is the primary objective of my website? Reading an article? Purchasing a product? Subscribing to a newsletter?
Review content management systems (CMS) to better grasp your needs. A CMS allows users to add content to websites without being technical. That sounds great, but keep in mind many of these systems have a steep learning curve. Check out WordPress, Weebly, Joomla and Drupal.
If products will be sold on your page you really need a company that has experience building E-Commerce websites.
For E-Commerce, research available platforms including WooCommerce, Magento, X-Cart, BigCommerce and Shopify. Also research payment solution providers including PayPal, Stripe, Dwolla and Google Wallet.
Know the difference between search engine marketing and search engine optimization.
Search engine optimization is using best practices to rank well in the organic results using Google, Bing and other search engines when your product or service is searched.
Search engine marketing is a form of online advertising that uses the search engines as an advertising medium. When you search a particular term within Google, many times the first few results are paid advertisements. These are indicated by a small box with the word "ad" inside.
