Introduction: I bring 14 years of experience in working with youths and their families when in crises and experiencing pain. My passion lies in helping families with their communication, utilizing practical and realistic interventions that will strengthen their bond and help them achieve their goals. My expertise's lie in working with families that are struggling and who have children who are excessively fearful, angry or sad. I work alongside them to help them overcome difficult transitions in life (death, unexpected changes, family crises). I have a sensitivity to youth who identify as gay, lesbian, transgender or with special needs. I use evidenced based practices such as Family Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy as a framework for progress. However, I find that my life experiences of working with kids/teenagers as a Big Brother, Boys Scouts and youth support groups have allowed me to better understand youth.

William was my grandson 's therapist for approximately 1 1/2 years. My grandson had been in therapy for 5 years with only one therapist who had to move from the area. It was a tough road for William to gain his trust, but he did and My grandson was back on track. When William changed positions we were greatly saddened. After one year we were not satisfied with the two therapist he had. His behavior was out of control again. The teacher could not get him to do any work in class nor participate in any classroom lessons. His psychiatrist and current therapist wanted to put him on medication. But I did not want to do so and was at the end of my ropes when I received a call from William to check on my grandson's progress and to let me know that he was taking clients. I was elated - my grandson and I make the drive to see William. From the first session, my grandson's behavior in school has taken a 360. He is staying awake in class and doing most of his work.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge between $70 to $90 dollars depending on my availability for customers. I am able to make some accommodations for customers who need a "sliding scale fee," but that is dependent on availability as well.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to make sure that the customer feels comfortable enough to start the therapeutic process; therefore, I provide each customer a projection of the treatment plan, and the general expectations of therapy. This would include sharing their rights as a patient, and encouraging them to follow their general intuition through the therapeutic process.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have formal training in working with people with trauma. I use an evidence based model referred to as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is a short term intervention for people, including children experiencing trauma symptoms and behaviors. I also have training in working with at risk youth using evidenced based models such as Motivational Interviewing and Youth with Sexual Behavior Models.
