Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I approach each and every student with a fresh approach, tailored to their own needs, abilities and musical dreams... I teach, perform/record piano in the Jazz, Classical, Blues, R&B and Pop genres. I am also a voice instructor/vocal coach/singer. I can also play and teach guitar as well as bass guitar. I know it sounds like a lot, yet there's more; I am also a signed, original artist with recording/performing credits in two separate genres of music. Finally I'm also a recording engineer/producer/arranger. I have almost 50 years performing experience and about 42 as a teacher of music. I've never had another job, and truly LOVE what I do. My teaching is about sharing that blessing with others who also love music. I love helping other creative souls find their way to enjoy their music expression. It is a joy for me to do that. Please see the photos section, as well as the review section here for current and former students and their reviews.

I needed help with my breathing technique and Lonnie was able to isolate what I was doing wrong and we started working on fixing my bad singing habits right away. He is patient and takes a very personalized approach to the musician’s/vocalist’s individual needs. He is also a talented pianist and can very easily change keys to accompany a singer to the correct key that suits their voice. Lonnie has made me a much better vocalist and I highly recommend him.

Details: 45 - 64 years old • Yes, the student can read music • 2 - 4 yrs of formal training • Pop • Jazz • Musical theater • 60 minutes • I travel to the voice coach

Lonnie is the real deal, a professional musician who will teach to your student's strengths and build up their weaknesses. Proper technique is critical to being a better singer and he will spend time teaching everything from breathing to diction and everything needed to be a better singer. My teenage daughter looks forward to lessons and is happier after them.

Lonnie is a true musical soul. As performer, composer, and most of all in his teaching approach he delivers a heartfelt message to the listener/student. He has shown himself to be, in many areas of the music field to be totally knowledgable and dependable. My kids love him.

I worked with Lonnie for ten years, from when i began my studies in jazz piano at age 11 until I went to college at Berklee School of Music in Boston. We worked in all the different aspects of music, from jazz improvisation and interpretation, to how to play with ensembles, as well as orchestrating and arranging. I always admired Lonnie's willingness to work with me on what i wanted to work on. As a young musician my creativity was pretty boundless and it was hard to get me to learn music in a conventional way. Lonnie showed me how important it was to listen to music in order to learn. I received the right amount of motivation and guidance from my lessons with Lonnie to propel me into a life of musical work, as i currently make a living as a freelance composer in Los Angeles. I owe a lot to my teachings as a young musician and I heartily recommend Lonnie's services as a music instructor. I can be reached at 310 729 3866 or at dcharnis@gmail.com
