I have nothing but good things to say about the entire experience. Tony and team were friendly, professional and meticulous. Communication was always open and promises kept. They took pride in their work and ensured that the construction was properly done. I was notified of any issue that came up during the job. In fact, I am already preparing for my next job with them.

Professionals at work is a different view.
Excellent portfolio with exact amounts and descriptions of materials to include prices and quality. All material list broken down for simplicity and labor done the same way. Profession appearances with logos on shirts caps and jackets.

We had some water damage to repair. Tony and The Tennessean came in quickly and got the job done. The crew that was sent to our house were great workers, and courteous. Tony gave us an extremely detailed proposal, and he was very honest and upfront with all aspects of the job. I would use them again, and I recommend that other folks would too.

The Tennessean converted our dining room into a guest bedroom, complete with closet, new lighting, wallpaper removal, and paint. We are so pleased with the finished work, including the cost and time of completion. There were a couple things that needed to be done over, and Tony sent his crew back to correct it quickly. I definitely recommend The Tennessean Home Improvement for your general contracting needs! We will be calling them again!

After a series of contractors making promises, then not keeping them, or flat out just not showing up, Tony entered the picture. He was kind, focused, sincere and serious about taking on the job of renovating our home. He is detailed and generous. His people do quality work and take on projects that scare lesser contractors away. He considers himself an advocate for those who have been taken advantage of. He is generous and has restored our faith that there are good people, who care about their clients and doing expert work. I cannot rave enough about our experience with The Tennessean Home Improvement Co. Thank you Tony!

I was referred to the Tennesean Home Improvement Construction by a very dear friend. I was told that Tony would be honest, attentive, and most importantly he would listen. They were so right !!! I had detailed specifications and drawings. I had all of my materials prior to beginning my job. I knew exactly what I wanted and Tony to my surprise totally understood my vision. Though Tony was referred to me, I still did my homework, getting 3 other bids. I had given my drawings and specifications to each of the contractors so that they would all have the same information in order to give an exact bid. I checked out all of the contractors on the Contractors State License website and, I called and spoke to prior clients of each of the different contractors. I compared all of the bids and found them all to be in line with the scope of work to be done. Pricing was also a factor, I wanted to stay within budget. Of all the bids I received, Tennesean Home Improvement was the most inclusive and detailed of the work to be performed, giving me confidence that he was fully involved and hands on in the entire construction process. I remodeled 2 bathrooms and a dressing room. Tony was always available (even by text !!) and, when necessary, would come over at a moments notice. Tony's crew were unbelievably fabulous! Detailed, extremely neat, cleaned the work areas daily before leaving and never left trash around. They arrived daily on time with smiles on their faces even proudly displaying there companies logos on there shirts !!. They truly enjoy their work. Ricky, there project manager IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! For my shower floor, they cut 284 - 3 x 3inch tiles from 12 x 24 inch porcelain tiles without a complaint . 3 of the bathroom walls were done in 13 x 40inch porcelain tile laid stacked horizontally. For the inside and edges around the bathroom window, which were finished in tile, I did not want the usual inset of the tile nor the metal edge strips. I wanted the tile mitered. Ricky didn't blink an eye at this request. My shower has a column holding the shower fixtures that is made of glass. One each side of the column are 1/2 inch Starfire Glass walls. Ricky's work is the most beautiful work I have seen in a very long time. There was very little waste of my very expensive tile and no waste of my glass material. Giovanni - Painting, Drywall and a multitude of other items, is also an artisan. Besides all of his drywall work, he also removed the acoustical ceiling in my dressing room. The most beautiful work. Todd - Electrician. He followed my specifications perfectly putting everything in conduit as was my preference. Tony, Followed my specifications perfectly putting everything copper to copper, no plastic, hooking up the rather complicated rain head, proportioning valve, and hand shower. At the conclusion of the job, we were present when the building inspector pronounced that everything was to code and done properly. Our home was built in the early 60's and was never remodeled. I was worried what would be found behind the walls. I was lucky, there were no problems. Because I am so detailed, and knew exactly what I wanted - having my fixtures and tile on hand prior to the start of the job, along with the detailed specifications and drawings, there were no add-on's. The remodel went smoothly and stayed on budget. Tennesean Home Improvement is a pleasure to work with and I look forward to working with them again. Tony wasn't the cheapest initial bid we received, but we ended up saving a ton by avoiding costly errors, staying on time (and rent in our temporary space), and the result was more than worth the money. We have a beautiful new home. I highly recommend Tony and Tennesean Home Improvement anyone considering doing a major or even a small job done to there home... Thank you Tony, and your entire crew for a beautiful job. Feel free to contact me at to see the work they have done (I'm very proud of the end result).. Mr. Melgar

The job itself was pretty extensive I bought a home and it needed a lot of work that I did know about the VA never performed a home inspection after I had paid for it. Needless to say Tony took care of me I was short on funds but he still performed the work and is allowing me to make payments to him. The workers were good guys and if there was anything you wanted any info on they told you and their work was very impressive no corners were cut in the work along with extra measures taken to prevent those problems from ever occurring again. And the fact that they are keeping pictures of every step and relaying them to me for my records is awesome.

I've worked with a lot of contractors in the past - and these guys were true professionals. They gave us an accurate quote, did the work on time, and had a great attitude. I've gotten a lot of compliments on the remodel they did. I would definitely use The Tennessean in the future.

Tennessean Home Improvement was hired to replace flooring in hall. They came out immediately to give an estimate. We decided to hire them to do the work. During the estimate it was discovered that we had a plumbing issue. We were told they could take care of it so the new flooring wouldn't be damaged. They were dependable and friendly and very honest and trustworthy. I highly recommend them for all your home improvements!

The Tennessean were great, we needed them to do a lot of major repairs from replacing the roof to repair a back deck. They changed a few Windows for us and refurbished our floors. The men were respectful and comfortable to have around. While my husband was at work and my boys in school they made sure not to make me feel uncomfortable in my house. We sold our house and got back more than what we put in to sell it. We are using them for our next project. I recommend them all the time.

We had a bathroom added and a kitchen remodeled. For the price we got we were able to go ahead and have the whole house refreshed with new paint. Made a HUGE difference and where we were having the work done to increase asking price, now we are thinking about keeping the home. The crew was very professional and thoughtful and I have no hesitation with recommending this group of wonderful individuals to everyone I know.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
we have a detailed Itemized list of approx 400 items in a home set with a standard prices, and its all based on what were doing at the home, of course the more we do the tighter we can do the project for
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we come out to the job site, no pushy salesman and with the measurements we determine cost and labor for services rendered Via Email, if the customer contracts us, its because of our Credentials, 1st impression and cost.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
family owed business in Chicago Ill., and everyone who works with us have been with us for years, our background would be with designer homes in Brentwood California, Santa Monica and Hollywood, we have also designed Movie sets for many movie productions like Troy, and for Sony Studios, we are different and expert Carpenters not Handi-Men
How did you get started doing this type of work?
we all were born into construction from a long line of carpenters and innovators in our families, like we say "we like to invent easier way of doing things and one day we'll be millionaires"
What types of customers have you worked with?
We have worked with customers for small jobs, like paint 1 wall or replace a water heater to Multi unit buildings we have done work for home owners who invested 15k to 45k to national developers who expect us to deliver move in ready homes in a matter of days, with the developers we have delivered more than 30 house in 2015 and have produced close to $650,000 in generated work orders
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
please view our pictures in our profile, our floors are our pride, we have done a house in Lawrenceburg TN where we were able to epoxy the floor using a 3 tone color pixels and applied it to look like Marble floors.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Please Please Please make sure that the Workman's Comp. is issued to the home owner as the home owner should be a POLICY HOLDER and covered for the work rendered weather its a small job or big one the customers must understand that if anyone contracted hurts themselves at the job site, from stepping on a nail to tripping on their children's toys, Someone will pay for the Hospital bill and if the contractor has no $ or insurance to cover a $3,000 hospital bill the hospital will encourage their financial planners to advise the contractor to seek a claim from home owners or else. The construction company if hired should provide a copy with customer name on it if they cant its either because they have NO work mans comp or General liability Insurance oh and never give more than 10% and we do our payments structures in 3rds. never NEVER NEVER give 1/2 or all the $ up front.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Are they Licensed? Are they Bonded? Do they have Workmans Comp? does they're crews have workmans comp.? Do they have General liability Insurance? can they handle my job? are they family oriented or drinkers or smokers believe it or not most of the time this can determine what type of characters you'll deal with. they might be the best at what they do but you're also inviting unnecessary Drama into your home and that's something to consider. (e.g. i have no gas $, i need $ to pay my rent, can you pay cash because i have child support) please please if your reading this i have seen good people get burned because they thought it was better to go the cheaper route, consider all that we have stated- Miriam & Tony Lee Santos (owners)
