Introduction: Informed by almost 15 years of yoga practice and study, Melissa possess an unique and thorough understanding of yoga—on and off the mat. Her training is rooted in traditional lineage based teachings that approach yoga as a science and art. By listening to her students, creating personalized sequences that combine breath and movement, and hands-on adjustments; she brings the student(s) to an enhanced state of body-mind awareness. Whether the goal is increased flexibility, weight loss, mental ease, or relaxation; she believes yoga is the easiest and most comprehensive solution. She believes—at our core—we naturally exist in a state of peace, openness, acceptance, and wellness—practicing yoga (and meditation) allows us to access that place more regularly.
As a private yoga guide and group instructor she has taught all levels and ages ranging from 10-75 years old. She has worked with private retreat clients healing from cancer—to hyperactive children—to teenage girls; and is committed to creating a safe and supportive space on the mat. She is a certified Vinyasa teacher and has modeled/demonstrated advanced postures for online instructional videos; Melissa now typically teaches a gentle, slower yoga, which easily allows students to reconnect to the pulse of the breath and their bodies.
She believes when we connect to our breath, we are more centered; we are able to exist in a more balanced state and gracefully hold what life brings us!
“InteriorTransformer Yoga” focuses on rooting and releasing; and finding more space in and around the hips. On a purely physical level, when the hip area is congested it can lead to lower back pain, tight hamstrings, neck & shoulder pain, headaches, and an overall feeling of static. The hips and hip area hold a tremendous amount of tension and energy. By focusing on hip-openers and long, supportive holds there is an amazing transformative power that occurs when the hips release. Melissa loves sharing this healing and pain-relieving practice.
Sharing the healing power of yoga and focusing on my student's needs in the moment.
I love to witness students connect with their breath for the first time; and enjoy watching them develop an awareness of the subtle body. I enjoy offering hands-on adjustments and showing students how to support themselves in the poses; giving them the courage and inspiration to develop their own home practice.
