About
With 30 years in the saddle and an equally long show career I’ve developed an incredible eye for correctness. My natural ability to communicate what I want out of my students has aided me in developing riders and taking them to numerous, prestigious regional and national titles/championships. My dedication to my students safety, development, and progress as riders is unparalleled, as is my genuine passion and love for the sport. Developing new riders regardless of age is absolutely wonderful! Finishing riders who have had a start but face issues, whether those be with their horse, their position or their fears is also a favorite !

Sam is a highly capable and knowledgeable instructor who recognizes the unique needs of individual students, is prepared for every lesson, and wants her students to enjoy their learning processes. She combines kindness with just the right amount of tough love to support students as they strengthen their riding skills. I recommend Sam to both new and experienced riders.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Becoming a coach was a natural progression point in my career. After a successful junior rider career and catch riding for the beginning of my amateur years, coaching was the next natural step.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I currently coach a young man who over the course of 8 months has gone from his very first time on a horse to coursing 2’9”. His natural talent and understanding of the animals and sport make him a thrill to instruct! I always joke he’s the next Kent Farrington, but I’m serious! 😉

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look for someone who makes you feel safe, comfortable, confident and secure!
