FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
"Standard pricing" is tough for an artist to set. Each job is different, and all requests are considered and carefully priced accordingly. I don't want to list a bunch of nickel-and-dimey options, for my sake and yours. If you have to have a number to start your search, single portraits at a location of your choice will cost about $250, family/engagement portraits range from $300-$400, and commercial/event projects will be assessed and priced based on amount of time and travel required. All customers will receive a disc with 20-30 professionally processed photos, and the option to order prints.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I gather the customer's needs and wants, from desired mood to location to end product. (Examples: Is this for personal enjoyment? Is it for marketing purposes? Is it intended for distribution to family members?) If the customer isn't sure, I'm happy to brainstorm for them. Then, I strategize a way to creatively make the most of their vision and bring it to life.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
By day I am a research scientist, so I've been sharpening my imaging skills for many years. My photography lessons have been mostly self-taught, through two decades of research and extensive trial and error. I've come to have a strong understanding and appreciation for light and composition, and how to achieve a desired mood and effect.
