Introduction: Since moving to the Pacific Northwest, I've worked for a variety of government entities, from plaintiff's work at the Oregon Dept. of Justice Consumer Protection Division to defense work with the Pierce County Dept. of Assigned Counsel. I regularly volunteer with the Housing Justice Project representing tenants on a variety of housing issues.
I enjoy educating clients on legal frameworks and pragmatic realities of the legal system in language they can understand. My philosophy is that the legal system can be a vary alienating and intimidating system, and part of my job is to assuage a client's anxieties and help them set reasonable expectations. I believe this process in and of itself is of great value to a client, but achieving a client's goals, either through settlement or in a contested hearing, is truly rewarding.
