I rarely ever give negative reviews to anyone on Thumbtack or any other app, but I feel compelled to do it here because my experience with this company has been so bad that I want to warn others about working with them. I feel completely ripped off and given the run-around by them. I contacted the company in January about moisture on the inside of my windows on very cold days. I sent them pictures and talked with the owner, Jay. He sent someone onsite who inspected my windows, Frank. Both Jay and Frank assured me that the issue had to do with caulking. They said they saw no evidence of glass or window failure and that fixing the caulking would fix the problem. Both Frank and Jay seemed knowledgeable and honest at the time about what they were saying. Jay gave me a very high estimate - over $1,700 - but he said we have a lot of windows, they would be removing the old caulk on the outside of the window (which takes time), replacing it with the "same caulk they use on the space shuttle", and they would support their work with a warranty, which is how he justified the price. He also said it would take a crew of 2-3 people a full day to do all of the work. In reality, they didn't remove the old caulk, they simply caulked over the existing caulk; they were scrambling the morning of the work to get any caulk at all (and I don't know that they used was anything special that I couldn't have gotten at Home Depot); and they were in and out in less than three hours - which would be fine IF they actually fixed the problem, but they didn't - not much has changed with my windows and I have the same problem - AND I paid $1,660 for this work (I took the cash discount...another mistake...I should have used a credit card), which in hindsight was an absolute rip-off. I've been talking with Jay for two months and trying to get him out to inspect the windows and fix the problem. Part of why I went with this company is because they seemed honest and Jay had said they stood behind their work with a warranty. Despite his promises to come out, he hasn't in nearly two months of requests. When he finally did schedule two appointments with me to come to my house, he didn't show up either time, and didn't even have the courtesy to text or call and say he wouldn't show up. I very much feel like a victim of dishonest and unprofessional practices with this company. My next step is definitely reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and likely a small claims case in court. While I have found most Thumbtack companies to be excellent, this one was an utter disappointment.
