Introduction: The Firebird ensemble is in high demand as a dance and jazz ensemble in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Examples of venues we have performed include: D.C. Marriott for New Years Eve (2015), Columbia Station, and Art on the Avenue in Alexandria, VA. We can range from just a trio to a full 17 piece big band performing dance tunes. This band is comprised of some of the best jazz musicians in the Washington, D.C. area. We also play Sinatra and Ella style arrangements and tunes. Please contact the manager for audio samples. We love to make people dance, smile, forget their worries and have a good time!

Shannon Gunn, the leader of Firebird Jazz, assembled an amazing quintet for my mother's 80th birthday. In addition to her playing on trombone, we had a keyboardist on piano, a bass player, a drummer, and a trumpet player. Shannon proposed a fabulous set list with old jazz standards that my mother loves, and I appreciated her willingness to discuss the style of music and the tunes my mother would like. The band arrived on time and played two marvelous sets, one geared towards listening and the other to dancing. It was such a delight to have such world-class yet local musicians play for us, and Shannon made it happen! I recommend hiring Shannon Gunn without reserve!

Shannon was able to put together a full 11 piece orchestra together to play music from the 1920's on VERY short notice. She was friendly and more than willing to accommodate special requests even though they were challenging! She was very enthusiastic and an absolute delight to work with and I will be using her again!
