Introduction: I am a world-class violinist with over fifteen years of professional performing and teaching experience. I am committed to using the violin creatively and inspiring others to reach for their musical goals. My mission - to share my passion for music and the power of expression - extends to both performances and teaching commitments. As a performer, I pour every ounce of energy into making music that transcends. As a teacher, I am intensely committed to helping students achieve technical freedom and facility, and to developing musical imagination. Many strings teachers can competently teach basic technique, but end up snuffing the passion out of students by following old and outdated routines. My approach is more fun! While I help students develop fluid technique, we get to playing music right away - and depending on students' interest, focus on classical repertoire or other genres ranging from bluegrass fiddle to jazz. Please do get in touch if you'd like to learn more and schedule a lesson! __________________________________________________________ Biography: Julian Spiro is a violinist located in the Boston area. Committed to using the violin creatively, he is equally at home in classical, modern, rock, and experimental settings. Julian began playing violin at the age of four, inspired by listening to his great grandfather, Murray Feldman, perform on Mister Roger's Neighborhood. This childhood fascination quickly became serious; Julian studied violin with Stephen Majeske, principal second of the Cleveland Orchestra, while training and performing internationally with friends and family as part of the performing group the Agnon Five. As a student at Oberlin Conservatory, Julian studied violin performance with Milan Vitek and contributed strings to myriad rock, bluegrass, and experimental groups. In 2012, Julian received a fellowship at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he studied Hindustani music with Nepali tabla master Hom Nath Upadyhaya. He has performed nationally and internationally with ensembles such as the Chautauqua Festival Orchestra, the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, and Cleveland Opera Circle, and toured the US with the rock band Viewers Of. Before moving to the Boston area, Julian founded a violin studio in Cleveland, and is dedicated to sharing his love of music with students. His approach as a teacher is grounded in the belief that music is for everybody, and he enjoys working with students to develop their individual creative voices. For me, it's simple - I love making music, and sharing that love with others.

Julian has been a great influence on my daughter’s musical growth. He holds her to an appropriately high standard while keeping the lessons fun and engaging. My daughter loves her lessons and the comprehensive practice strategy Julian provides. He has increased her endurance for practicing which has allowed her to make some significant technical leaps. Since working with Julian I’ve seen improvements in her technique and her commitment to her violin. I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking for exceptional violin instruction!
