Introduction: Thank you for visiting my Thumbtack page. My name is Flavia. I am from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. I have about eight years of experience with Portuguese instruction. I began teaching Portuguese during my graduate studies at the University of Florida. Since then, I have helped children and adults learn Portuguese.
I focus on the specific needs of each student. If you are a beginner, I will gladly walk you through the basics and move to more difficult content as your comprehension of the language and fluency develop. If you already know some Portuguese, I will teach to practice your current language skills and introduce new materials to develop your understanding and ability to speak the language. If you are an advanced student, I will focus on practical conversation within different scenarios and circumstances.
Over the years I have developed several materials to help my students learn Portuguese, including flashcards, dialogues and worksheets. I keep my classes engaging to make the learning process more enjoyable.
As you advance through the classes, you will find yourself knowing more vocabulary and speaking more Portuguese. If you speak Spanish, you will learn Portuguese faster due to the similarities between the two languages.
My teaching methodology includes:
1) Repetition - It helps with memorization and getting the correct pronunciation.
2) Follow prompts to create your own Portuguese sentences.
3) Asking and answering questions in Portuguese - This gives you the opportunity to speak freely and apply what you are learning.
4) Free style conversation - Mimicking real life situations, you will be able to apply your language. The more Portuguese you learn, the more free style conversations we will have in class.
5) Complete worksheet assignments at home - This gives you the opportunity to review what you have learned.
Certification: On December 2016, I completed the Berlitz language teaching course.

SCHEDULE: I am available to teach Mondays through Fridays from 8am to 3:30pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 4pm. I am not available to teach in the evening.
