Introduction: I am The Startup Shepherd. I am a business lawyer, a start-up and rapidly-growing business financier, a consultant and a coach. I help organizations especially socially-conscious ones, hit the ground running and accelerate their growth.
I am a trained economist and a Harvard lawyer, but I don't spend tons of hours with clients analyzing every little angle and detail. We talk, and we research. We plan and we go, and it's fast. If we make mistakes, we learn from them, recalibrate, and go again. Business is fast and messy, but it's not that hard.
My coaching and consulting services are tailored to my clients' needs. Past engagements include business plan preparation, investor pitch preparation, strategy planning, tackling operational issues and opportunities, cultivating corporate culture, and developing leadership. I have worked with one-person startups, public companies, nonprofit organizations, and hybrid companies, such as public benefit corporations. I am effective in a lot of contexts and industries.
Through start-up capital and expansion funding, I help entrepreneurs and growing businesses access the capital they need. We are a nontraditional direct lender. We also partner with dozens of nationwide financial service companies.
My start-up legal services include forming, merging, and dissolving companies. I help companies raise capital through Angel Investors and Venture Capitalists. I will review, negotiate, and draft just about any type of commercial contract, including non-disclosure agreements, independent contractor and employment agreements, supply agreements, service agreements, etc. I also handle breach of contract disputes and trademark registrations.
