Introduction: Hello! My name is Imani, and I am a professional dancer. I have recently received my BFA in Dance from The Ohio State University after studying at Duke Ellington School for the Arts and CityDance Conservatory. I have also trained at BalletMet, Jones Haywood Dance School, and University of California Los Angeles, under the tutelage of Irene Tassadembo and others in Burkina Faso, and under the tutelage of Kaustavi Sarkar. I am trained in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, modern dance (Horton technique), contemporary and Odissi (Classical Indian). I have completed my Mancha Pravesh in Odissi dance. I have taught people of all ages (3-60) internationally. Some of the places I have taught are CityDance, Columbus Refugee and Immigration Services, King Arts Complex, and Wuhan University (Wuhan, China). I was vice president of 3D Urban Dance Crew and was captain of (and competed internationally with) OSU Nashaa (The Ohio State University's Co-Ed Bollywood dance team). I am so excited to teach new students, and I hope you'll be one of them!

I have been taking ballet lessons with Imani for the past month, and I could not be happier with the instruction that she has given me. Her attention to detail is incredible, and she is always 100% committed to perfecting my technique. She is genuinely interested in helping her students, and she even creates detailed lesson plans specific to her students. She is very personable and introduces new ballet movements and terminology in a fun and encouraging way. Also, my flexibility has greatly improved within only one month as a result of her effective conditioning that she incorporates into her lessons. I highly recommend Imani as a dance teacher!
