Mrs Freeburn helps my daughter (11) to improve German conversation. She is an outstanding tutor who excites with her refreshing and personalized approach adapting to our daughters character. Laura worked with me on an extensive book project on contemporary art for the University of Lüneburg, and her profound grasp of the subtleties of language was invaluable, particularly in editing such complex subject matter. FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For tutoring, my prices depend on how far I have to travel. For essay coaching, I usually negotiate a flat fee.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I find out what services they require and give them an honest assessment of whether I am qualified to provide those services. We settle on a price and, if necessary, a meeting place. For language tutoring, I am willing to give an initial free lesson so the client can decide if I meet their needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a master's degree in German language and literature. In high school Spanish, I got a 5 on the AP exam and came in 2nd in the state of Illinois on the National Spanish Exam. During my college years I studied for 2 months at the Centro de estudios para extranjeros (CEPE) of the University of Guadalajara. I took some French in high school and have had extended opportunities to practice it in France and Canada. I limit my teaching to beginners in French because I haven't done advanced studies in it. With regard to writing, I have many years of experience including my master's thesis, a couple of published articles, and many texts that I have had to translate from German into good English.
