They were great to work with from beginning to end. House exterior was painted beautifully and done in 1 day!Jun 14, 2017Verified
Workers shoved ladders and other painting across roof. When asked to stop, continued. When attempting to relate problem(s) to owner, denied accountability. The problem continued until property owner denied access. Painters appeared to be very unprofessional but admitted the truth. Owner, continued to refuse honesty. Never again. Terrible experience.Sep 3, 2016VerifiedLegacy Painting's reply
We take grate pride in our communication and workmanship! If you read the rest of our reviews below that are mainly 5 star, it is clear that there is a large discrepancy with this customer rating. Sorry for a long response, but it is needed in this situation... Jan called me after we were 95% complete with her home to say that we had been dragging ladders across the roof (multiple times) in order to move them from one side of the home to the other and that she was sure that we had caused damage to her home. As a contractor this made no sense to me because it would be much more difficult and dangerous to my crew to pull ladders up and across a roof than to just move them around the building, but I immediately called my crew and stopped all work until I could be there to inspect everything. I received Jan's call at about 5 pm on a week day so we stopped work until the following morning. I called Jan back and let her know that I would be there first thing the next morning to inspect everything and that I wanted to walk around the home with her so we could look at everything and speak face to face. After arriving the next morning I inspected the house and roof and also questioned my crew and could not find any evidence for her claim. Again, based on my experience her allegation did not make any sense to me so I was very through in trying to understand why she believe we had been dragging ladders on the roof. When I tried to speak with Jan she refused to answer the door which seemed very odd to me since she called to report a problem and we had set a meeting for that morning. I directed my crew to finish up the painting and I continued to call and follow up with Jan the rest of the day with no response. At the end of the day after my crew had finished the painting and had already left the site, Jan called me with an ultimatum saying that unless I signed a written document taking responsibility to replace her roof she would not pay me for our services. I tried to ask her some questions about what happened and she hung up. Her story did not add up at all. If it was true she could easily have gone outside (since she was at home the entire time we were there) and looked at the roof to see what was going on (with men and ladders on the roof) or even snap a picture with her phone. She didn't do any of these things. Instead she said she had heard noise outside and that she was convinced it could only be from ladders being dragged across the roof. I have spoken with Jan since this and asked her to get a free independent roof inspection or have a lawyer call me since she was claiming we damaged her home. She has done neither. I have had my own insurance agency look into the matter and found no evidence to back up Jan's claim. I have also since found out that another local painting company had a similar experience with her last year while painting the interior of her home. Unfortunately, all this forces me to the conclusion that Jan was not completely upfront with us. I may be wrong about that, and maybe there is something else going on here, but this is my point of view. We have pictures of all the work we did along with job cost receipts, etc. We are very thorough and really want to do a great job for our customers. I have painted hundreds of projects and have never had an experience like this before. We are professionals in the way we act, speak to others, and apply paint. I have thought through this encounter many times and lost several nights of sleep dealing with Jan and I truly don't know what we could have done any better for her. When Jan called with this issue, I made it a top priority and followed up with her immediately. If we had damaged anything we would make it right, and if I believed at all that my guys did drag ladders onto her roof I would be very apologetic and take responsibility. My initial impression after inspecting our work and not finding any evidence for her claim was that this was a misunderstanding that I was happy to work through with Jan. But after many tries at communicating with her, getting other people involved, and finding out she had previously done something similar to another contractor, I realized that this wasn't about me or my crew's work. We take pride in what we do and I am confident that we did a great job on her home.
Matt and his crew did an outstanding job painting our house. They were very professional and the paint looks great.Aug 5, 2016Verified
I had Legacy paint my exterior trim as well as my ceilings inside my home. They were quick, delivered as promised and did a good job. They listened to what I was looking for and needed. The workers came in, took over and finished the job without worries.Jul 28, 2016Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Pricing is generally determined by several factors. The current condition of your home, the scope of work you would like to complete, and the type of longevity you are trying to achieve from the paint. We will work with you to make sure you understand everything you need to know about choosing a great painter at the right price.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have been involved in successfully completing 250+ projects and honestly, I still learn new things from unique projects and the experience of my crews. And yes, I still believe in investing in developing the business. I rely on my industry partners at Sherwin Williams and PPG to keep me up to date on new products and technology. Through training, we have become experts in the staining of decks and fences. It is a strong niche for us that not every painter is trained to do correctly.
- What types of customers have you worked with?Exterior painting and staining. Interior painting.
