FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I generally offer prospective students a complimentary 15-minute mini-lesson so they can get a better idea of my approach.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I use the complimentary lesson to get a general idea about a prospective student's musical interests and goals. While the basics of playing the piano remain constant, after a year or two of lessons most students begin to gravitate toward one or two genres, i.e. classical, jazz, popular, improvisation, country, rock, blues, songwriting, composition, etc.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 40 years' experience teaching piano and am a member of Music Teachers' Association of California, California Association of Professional Music Teachers and American College of Musicians (National Guild). I studied piano in New York with Gerda Bregman and in California with Paul Smith, William Clark and Robert Hagopian. My voice teachers include Martin Frick, Alice Spears and Linda Noble Brown. I received my B. A. in English Literature from Fordham University in 1969 and my A.A. in Music from College of Marin in 1976. Additional music-related training includes Yamaha Music School, Pace Method, Musikgarten and Entrada. For 13 years, I taught very popular Introduction to Piano & Keyboard classes in the Ross Valley Summer Program at Bacich school. I routinely accompany for local singers and instrumentalists.
