Counseling goals
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I am a teaching elder/minister of word and sacrament in the Presbyterian Church, USA. As such, I am licensed to perform weddings. Though some jurisdictions require that I register with the local clerk. I am a full-time pastor versed in the life of the church, not a fly-by-night, Internet-ordained clergy person. I will marry a Christian couple who is willing to undergo at least some level of pre-marital counseling (minimum of a couple of sessions, either in person or over Skype).

Weddings can be very hectic and stressful. My husband and I before we got married, we had everything planned out a certain way. We both wanted to get married in a church, however both my husband and I hadn’t at that point in our lives stepped foot into a church in over say at least 9 years. However none the less we still wanted to get married in a church. Our biggest fear was that we’d find a Pastor that was all about the scripture and wouldn’t personalize anything that we wanted. We wanted our ceremony traditional but also modern, our own twist. When we talked with my family about what we wanted we found out that my grandmother used to belong to a church and that’s where we went to inquire about. The church was beautiful and a new Reverend. Our first impression of Reverend Samuel Weddington was that he seemed very genuine, non judgmental, and he made us feel right at home. He explained to my husband and I that he does marriage counseling before a wedding to prepare us for a lifelong journey not only with each other but spiritually as well. As we left that day, our heads were heavy as we’ve never really gone thru counseling ourselves for anything. As we talked on the ride home we both felt the warmth Reverend Samuels Weddington had around him. He was very positive and never without a smile. From that moment on we knew we had picked our Reverend. Counseling was the best thing we did. We not only went thru a merry go round of emotions, but we as a couple became closer. Reverend never judged us. We talked about so many things wither it was personal things or stuff about what was going on with the wedding. Reverend showed us things in the scripture that would help our situation at the time. Even now. Reverend Samuel Weddington shared things with us, so it wasn’t us only opening up to him. He has a vast history of different life experiences. Reverend can see people’s limitations. As you can see our counseling went great. He was very helpful with anything we needed wither it was guidance or advice. The wedding went very smoothly. My husband and I loved our ceremony. Reverend has a certain way with words that always got my husband and I right in the heart. Since our wedding we’ve gone to his church because we truly love Reverend Samuel Weddington. We feel we have a very good relationship with him. He is warm, genuine, kind hearted and truly a man of God. He has taught us so many things and still to this day. He makes us excited to want to have a relationship with God. I could go on and on about how great Reverend is, but if you like what I’ve written you should find out for yourself!!

Pastor Sam counseled me and my fiance at that time for a few weeks prior to our wedding. His counseling was not only helpful spiritually but also practical as well. He helped us to reflect on the words of the Bible, focus on what's important, and solve problems. He as a husband himself and a father of two, gave us a lot of valuable advice which was supported by his encouraging, caring and patient personality. It was a very enjoyable experience to have him with us while planning the wedding regarding choosing hymns or deciding the order of the ceremony, etc. because of his several creative and helpful ideas with flexibility. He was also very organized, which is one of the most important values I considered in my counselor and minister. I was actually so nervous that I didn't get to listen to his sermon very well at the ceremony, but I heard compliments from my friends and family all throughout the evening. I have been meaning to ask for a copy of the sermon. Overall, my husband and I were more than happy with everything he did for us.

Apart from officiating our wedding, Sam is the reason why I am married to my wife today. We had excellent marriage counseling that clarified our reasons and beliefs for getting married to one another. In fact, I continued to go to him for counseling even after getting married! He was very personable and knowledgeable with our personalities and situations, so he was very intentional with the logistics and order of the ceremony. Sam gave us great advice on what can and should be added while respecting our personal requests regarding all of the wedding plans as well. We couldn't have asked for a better pastor for our wedding. Highly recommended!
