About us:

Judson Construction has been serving Snohomish, King and Skagit counties since 2000. Paul Judson has been in the industry since 1990. Paul began working for Parson’s Walls, the largest rockery contractor in the country.

Paul worked for Parson’s Walls as a project manager, until they moved their operation to Nevada and California in 2000, when Paul began Judson Construction, Inc.

Paul has a passion for his work. He works hard to exceed each customer’s expectations. Paul works in partnership with each individual client, whether a contractor, homeowner, company, or civic organization. One of his goals is to see clients achieve the outdoor environment of their dreams.

Judson Construction is fully licensed, bonded and insured. Paul primarily services Snohomish, King, Skagit and Whatcom counties. However, Judson Construction does provide services throughout Washington State, depending on the scope of the project.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. There are only a handful of rock retaining wall specialist in the Northwest. Choosing an experienced and professional company is important to the quality of the project.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Rock retaining walls are much more than just stacking rocks. Depending on the height and size, the rock wall may have to be engineered to ensure it does not fail.

The quality of the rock you use is important too. 100% of our rock comes from Iron Mountain Quarry in Granite Falls, WA. The composition and quality of the rock is second to none.

Poorly designed walls can cause property damage, which can cost you thousands of dollars to repair.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. You should make time to schedule an appointment so we can come out and look at your property. Rock retaining walls and custom hardscapes cannot be quoted simply by determining square footage.

Often landowners have difficulty describing and area. It is best if we look at it. Our estimates are free and completely pressure free.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Attention to detail. One of our trademarks in rock retaining walls are the level wall caps. Not only does this require years of experience, but also a passion for the work we do.

We stand behind every aspect of our work. In this day in age, it is a waste of time and money when you cannot count on your contractor. We do what we say we are going to do and we stand behind it.

A. We like to transform unused and unsafe areas of property into beautiful, safe, and usable areas the property owner will enjoy for years to come.

When the project is complete and the property owner is 100% satisfied, we are happy.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Q - When can you start my project?

A - Judson Construction works year round, regardless of the weather. It is important to schedule an appointment for an estimate. Once you accept the estimate we will schedule your project. Given any permits needed and our schedule your project could begin from 2 – 3 weeks from the initial estimate.

Q- How long will my project take from start to finish?

A - Projects vary in the time it takes to complete. The size of the project is usually the determining factor. Once your project begins, we work every business day until it is completed.

Q - Once the work is done, will you do the landscaping?

A - Judson Construction can provide initial landscaping. We do not provide landscape maintenance. We will work with your landscape design or you can rely on our landscape design experts.

Q - Will I need an engineer for my retaining wall?

A - Anything built over 4 feet in height usually requires an engineer; however it depends on the situation. Judson Construction works with a geotechnical engineer to help you with any project which may require an engineered wall.

Q - Who handles the permits?

A - Should your project require permits, Judson Construction can handle all of the necessary permits for your project. If you choose to take care of your own permits, Judson Construction can help.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. Hours of maintenance goes into maintaining our equipment. We do not want our machines going down when we are working on your job.
We pay special attention and many hours maintaining our equipment, which keeps our machines in excellent running condition.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. We recently did a project for a residential development where the rock walls were failing. When the development was built and the rock walls were installed by another company, they were put in with substandard materials and built improperly.

This costs thousands of dollars and is an inconvenient to the homeowners who now live there. This mess took months to repair.

A. Q - Will you be on the job site everyday?

A - When Judson Construction begins your project, we work every business day until your project is completed.

Q - How do I handle payment?

A - In the construction industry many contractors require a deposit before any work begins. Then in the middle of your project they end up not showing up and your job does not get finished. Judson Construction does not require a deposit. We stand behind our services and commitment to quality. Your net payment is due 30 days upon completion of your project.

Payment can be made by cash, check, money order, or bank check.

A - We focus our services in Snohomish, King, Skagit, and Whatcom Counties. However, Judson Construction does provide services throughout Washington State, depending on the scope of the project.

A. Q - Why would I want to choose natural rock over concrete, keystone or cmu blocks?

A - When properly installed, nothing compares to the beauty of natural rock. Natural rock is so much more personal and less commercial, although there are design aspects which rock is not always suitable. Rock retaining walls, will last for a lifetime. Secondly, rock retaining walls are a more cost effective method to building a retaining wall.

Q - What are some situations I might consider a retaining wall?

A - To change the grade of an area to make it more usable. Contrast the grade of the property, separate areas. Maintenance of an area. Mowing and maintaining a slope can be dangerous.
