Shaw Computer Services
About this pro
Shaw's was great. I had a quote for another company to retrieve years worth of family photos off of a thumb drive that had been bent and would no longer function. The other company was going to charge me $1200 to take it apart and weld a component to retrieve the information. Shaw's only charged me $300, and found that most of the work they quoted me was unnecessary!. Great guy, I talked to him on the phone at one point and he is very polite and personable. I wasn't sure as I was located in Indiana and he is in Maryland, but he had good reviews. It was well worth it to get back my kids baby pics and pics of some of my beloved past pets. Thanks!!May 9, 2018Verified
This job was done by a very skilled and professional gentleman. He was honest about all issues with my computer. He kept me informed of every aspect of the job that was required to get data off my computer. His work was performed in a timely manner, considering the problems with my computer. I would definitely return to him if I needed this type of computer repair service and I would highly recommend him to others.Mar 8, 2018Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My prices start at $375 for hard drives and $150 for thumb drives. I have been giving a discount to Thumbtack customers, though. With hard drives the prices can go higher if parts are needed or if a lot of work is required. I always discuss the price with my customers before starting work on a drive.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have been in the IT business for thirty-two years mostly working on disk array systems. When I decided to start my own data recovery company six years ago I did some intensive training with Scott Moulton and earned my CDRE (Certified Data Recovery Expert) degree. I have since done over 800 recoveries and the best thing is I love doing it.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I had been in the IT field for a long time and I was making a clone of my work hard drive when it froze up. I ended up turning the computer off and when I turned it back on nothing happened. I was able to get the data back by hooking the drive to a computer with a different operating system. It was thrilling and I realized that I wanted to start my own data recovery company.
