FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Generally speaking our pricing model is simple. You want us for an hour? You got us for an hour! If we get done early, find us more to do! If you go over the hour, then we bill to the closest quarter of an hour! We want to make sure you get every penny worth! It is important to us!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our work is backed by hands-on trade experience, continuous training, and real-world problem solving, not just classroom instruction. Our team has training and experience across: General construction and home repair Carpentry, framing, and finish work Plumbing and electrical repairs and replacements (within licensed and code-allowed scopes) Property maintenance and seasonal services Safety practices, job-site risk assessment, and damage mitigation Indoor air quality, filtration systems, and environmental awareness Beyond formal training, we believe experience matters most. We’ve worked in real homes, real weather, and real Alaska conditions—where materials, methods, and timing matter. We also stay current with: Manufacturer installation requirements Building-code standards applicable to handyman and repair work Safety and best-practice updates New tools, materials, and methods that improve quality and durability If a job requires a licensed specialist (such as advanced electrical, plumbing, or mechanical work), we coordinate with or refer to qualified professionals. We don’t cut corners, and we don’t work outside our lane. Bottom line: we combine practical training, ongoing education, and Alaska-specific experience to do the job right the first time.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Like a lot of good trades work, it started by helping people solve real problems. What began as taking care of repairs, maintenance, and projects for friends, family, and local property owners grew naturally into a full-time service. People kept calling back, referring others, and asking for help with bigger and more varied jobs. Over time, that hands-on experience turned into a professional operation focused on: Doing the work correctly the first time Showing up when promised Communicating clearly and honestly Treating homes and properties with respect Living and working in Alaska also shapes how we operate. We understand the local conditions, the urgency that comes with weather and seasonal issues, and the need for durable, practical solutions—not shortcuts. Palmer HandyMedics was built to be the kind of service people trust, recommend, and call again when they need help.
