FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our company does our best to estimate over the phone or through email/online however the technician once arriving to your property makes the decision on the cost based on the actual job. Most times it is less than what was previously quoted however there are some times when it may be more due to unforeseen circumstances! Discounts are available through our website at chemdryontheshore.com and should be presented to the technician at the beginning of the job so that he can accurately apply it. Our specials change often so check back with us or send us a message if you are interested in anything in particular!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
We are a family owned and operated company. Our owners, Jan and Fred Brereton, started this business in 1991 when they moved from the Chicago area. They owned condos in the Orange Beach area and they were tired of every time they came down to stay the carpet was either filthy dirty or still wet from the cleaning the management company had done because they knew they were coming down! They also were looking for something that was safe for kids and pets to be around as they always had their 3 kids and dog with them! That was the beginning of Chem-Dry on the Shore. Jan and Fred are still active in the business with the day to day operations being run by 2 of their 3 children, Ross Brereton and Corrie Pepperman.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The best advice we can give to potential customers that are shopping around for services is to make sure you are comparing "apples to apples". There are A LOT of companies that are out there saying they can clean carpet/upholstery/tile/wood/area rugs. And they can! The the solutions they use, the training of technicians, and the equipment they have will be different. If you are trying to compare a company that will clean 3 areas for $50 to a company that cleans 3 areas for $120 that is not comparing "apples to apples". There is something that the lesser cost company is not going to do that the other company will be! In today's market consumers need to be more educated than ever but they also need to hire a service provider that is educated as well as they are the professionals in that particular service.
