We were looking for healthy, low calorie, Paleo meals to help aid in our weight loss goal. My husband and I could not believe that she gave us everything we asked for with over the top flavor (DELICIOUS!!!) and the kitchen was spotless when she left. Brandy has immeasurable experience working with people with diverse dietary needs. She is comfortable cooking straight vegan recipes, vegetarian foods, and all American cuisine. She is knowledgeable about balancing carbs, protein, and fruits and vegs. She loves to cook. She met with me the first day and was pleased to be able to say she felt she could work with me on a consistent basis. We developed a schedule and for the past 10 months I’ve been quite happy with how the meals have been prepared based on my particular likes and dislikes. I highly recommend DiningByDesign and Brandy Hackworth for your personal chef needs.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    How does it work? 1. Meet to discuss your needs. Discover your favorite foods, dietary restrictions, health goals as well as overall service desires. This first meeting is your complimentary assessment, but client input/communication is ongoing. 2. Plan your personal menu. Ensure you are only served foods you love prepared to your taste. Over 400 tested recipes are available. 3. Schedule your Chef Day On a convenient pre-arranged date, I shop for fresh quality ingredients and bring them to your home. All meals are prepared on-site; no need to worry about delivery, pickup or freshness. 4. Enjoy! All your meals are packaged to meet your needs (single servings*, servings for two or family style). They are labeled and include heating instructions so each meal is enjoyed at its best.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    With a medical background, Brandy is uniquely qualified to meet your specialized dietary requirements, serving your needs personally, and always enthusiastic to incorporate new techniques, recipes and customize each meal for you. Complimentary training includes working alongside anti-aging and naturopathic physicians as well as personal trainers. She is certified by the United States Personal Chef Association. During the beginning years of Dining by Design, Brandy trained under various local chefs and restaurateurs obtaining priceless one-on-one training... and has been going strong since 2000! As the Culinary Director of a pilot program for Washoe County School District ​Lunch Program (which has been recognized by the National School Lunch Program, and acknowledges a rigorous compliance with federal nutrition guidelines) she has overseen students as they planned, sourced (even grew!), shopped, prepared, cooked, served, and cleaned up the on-site school lunch program kitchen as part of their curriculum, to implement better lunch programs and create awareness of healthier eating among our youth. Chef Brandy also studied with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to achieve her Health Coach Certification as relates to dietary requirements with concern for personal tastes.
