FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
As I am a, to use the gamer term, "noob" to the Freelance writing world, my rates are fairly low. When a person requests my services, I ask them to specify what the project is, and then send them a list of projects and the prices I charge. I do not charge by the hour, but by the project, which keeps things simple.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always loved writing. Even as a child I was always making up stories, and placing myself within my favorite tales and movies. My imagination never failed to keep me entertained, and I am happy to say that I never grew out of that. My love of writing blossomed in high school, and was fine tuned in college, becoming a regular outlet when I left my education. I needed something to keep my mind engaged after I had to drop out of college, and writing was able to provide a much needed academic and creative activity for my spare time.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
At my previous job, I mainly composed emails and letters for the athletic and recreation program, and occasionally provided input or writing for the news letters we provided. Other than that, I wrote for my blog exclusively, though I did not do so for profit. I wish to do more targeted writing for columns, articles, and blogs, all of which I often do without formal pay or acknowledgement now.
