FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It was all about the music. At 12 years old I was trying to improve the sound of old stereo systems long before I knew anything about Thiel/Small Parameters, or loudspeaker design.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
It's about the chemistry, remember, the ideal person loves this stuff as much or more than you. These people are not easy to find, but it's worth the effort to try, because most of us have amassed years of experience in residential, and commercial construction, interior design, cabinetry, and many other skills just to be able to get the most performance out of the least amount of space.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
My Profession hasn't always been considered a profession. It's only in the last 15-20 years that we have had recognition for who we are. Professional organizations like CEDIA have come into being to try to establish an industry sector. CES, and CEDIA have done wonders for product standardization, training, manufacturer involvement, and ever higher standards for industry progression...but at the end of the day when all the smoke has cleared; There were those people who were trying to do amazing things with sound and video long before these organizations and products even existed. These are the people you need to seek out.
