FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm always looking or new reference material. While my style has developed, I have to learn anatomy for more serious drawings, and that's really my weak point. I can sketch anything from a picture, and am working also to learn colors better as far as shadows and how light sources and perspective change one drawing into dozens.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was in 6th grade, I knew I wanted to draw comics. I was convinced that I would never make any money. So I spent ten years pursuing a career I hated. People always say: "You can always on the side," Don't buy that crap. You can work part time jobs until you break through. Don't give up on your dreams! You may never succeed in the world's eyes, but your goal should be to tell your own stories with your own voice. That's your responsibility as a creator. Never forget, never water-down, never setlle in terms of what you want to accomplish. Don't focus on the high-tier job. Produce quality work, and people will come to your door.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Check their portfolio. Certain kinds of style lend themselves to specific mediums that work best. You wouldn't read a spider-man comic by Charles Schultz, but at the same time, a hyper-realistic slice of life comic is kind of overly dramatic.
