This company advertises on Craigslist and scammed us out of about $500, so I wanted to pass along our story as a warning to potential future customers. Rightway Fence (AKA Jack Stanford) agreed to build a small fence per our contract on 5.19.2014. A check for a 50% deposit was deposited by Mr. Stanford on 5.27.2014, and I received a verbal agreement to begin the work the week of June the second. After several emails and phone calls over several weeks, no work had yet to be completed. After repeatedly being told that work would have begun, the last time via email on June 25th, I fired Mr. Stanford on July the third. After discussing the matter with Mr. Stanford I learned that $442.35 of our deposit would be lost due to incurred expenses. So, my hands were tied and if I ever wanted to see any of our money back, I'd have to rehire him. I rehired him to complete the work on July 17th and agreed to pay a portion of the incurred expenses if he could produce documentation that they were actually incurred. This was under the condition that the work begin the week of the 21st and be completed the week of the the 28th. As of this date (8.7.14), no work has been completed, and Mr. Stanford has not provided any documentation that he incurred expenses for our project. They were likely fabricated to keep our deposit... Mr Stanford was kind enough to point out to me that it was essentially our fault for not asking for a start and completion date on our contract, which is comforting to hear from someone who smiles with your check in-hand, shakes your hand, and gives you a verbal agreement to begin the work a week from collecting the deposit. This guy is a liar and a crook and a waste of anyone's time. STAY AWAY Now, my family is out about $500 and we've wasted two months to get this fence built (which was for safety reasons). Next on the list is to sue this turkey. He also lied about the delay in work, citing the utility company for not identifying underground utilities. I called them to verify that a request to ID utilities had been made and none had been made since June.
