Portrait Artistry

This was our first experience with Thumbtack and a great one. Finding an artist seemed daunting because it can be so subjective. We were fortunate to find and choose Erin for our project. Erin responded and gave us confidence in her ability to achieve our goal and do she is spades. She asked the right questions and made a personal visit to get more details of what we wanted and also of what was actually possible. Erin exceeded our expectations of a center piece and statement. Her rendition couldn’t be any better because her attention to detail showed. Erin is pleasant to work with and will look out for the best interest of the goals of your project. Don’t hesitate to hire her!

I asked Erin to create a personal piece for my new apartment based off of my aesthetic and the colors of my room. She blew me away with what she created! Her talent and creativity is unmatched. She is very professional, friendly, and responsive.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Murals are priced by square feet. On average, I charge around $15 per square foot. However, pricing will vary depending on the amount of detail in the painting, the surface of the wall, the need for heavier equipment for taller murals, and travel. My minimum rate for mural jobs is $750. Once a design is in place and I get to see the space/wall where the mural will live, I will be able to give you an exact quote! Other commission work is commonly done on stretched canvas. For these projects, pricing starts at $1.50 per square inch. Discounts increase as the canvas size increases! A deposit of 50% of the total price is due at the start of the project.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

For murals, I prefer to start by meeting at the painting site to get a good idea of the surface and space. From there we will discuss ideas and inspiration. From there I will prepare a mural proposal complete with a price quote and contract. Then we get to the fun part! Coordinating our calendars to create beautiful art on your wall! For commission works on canvas, I like to discuss details over the phone to get a better idea of your vision. The size of the canvas and the price are determined first in order to promptly order materials to build the canvas. I hand stretch every canvas, taking pride in every step of the process. Check out my blog on my website (erinashcraft.com) for a more in-depth video on this!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a BFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Painting and Drawing from Southwest Baptist University.
