Our home is over 30 years old and is in need of updating. Matt has been very accommodating in working with us to do one room at a time. Our kitchen cabinets were updated by painting the uppers and staining the lowers as well as removing the popcorn ceiling. Love it. I have a new pantry door and an antique laundry room door that will be stained the same as the cabinets. The quality of his workmanship is excellent and his pricing fiy into our budget quite nicely. Next up will be the small bathroom.

The mantle over our fireplace was handcrafted and stained roughly 30 years ago when we bought our home. Over time however, the stain was wearing off, and a few years back I had applied a stain to the natural, rustic facing side, that turned out to be a hard plastic polymer, which couldn’t be removed unless it was planed and sanded smooth. I didn’t want to lose the natural rough surface, so I contracted furniture refinishers who were referred to me. In both instances I was told taking the polymer finish off the front, and refinishing the 6’ mantle was too much work and both informed me they didn’t want to take the time. Then Thumbtack provided me with a pro, “Elevated Construction” who responded within 3 days, and told me he’d be glad to tackle the job. Matt, the Elevated Construction owner, patiently took the time to strip the stain off the facing side of the mantle, and did not sacrifice any of the rustic surface. Additionally, he repaired the cracks on the top side, which occurred from age and drying, lightly sanded the entire piece, and sealed the mantle as an alternative to constant oiling. After 2 weeks, the mantle was complete, and I was beyond pleased!! Matt was obviously experienced, patient, reasonable, and kept me informed through each step of the refinishing process. This mantle looks better than when I first brought it home! Many thanks to Elevated Construction for a job well done!!
