Introduction: We work closely between the artist and the client. Many photos have errors, need to have color conversions, or have degraded over time. Even for the photos that appear perfect, we closely inspect the details, and color tones to make sure all areas are fully addressed before we begin to paint it. Many time we get involved in digital art design to set up the scene first for preview before the artist even begins. This becomes very important with photos that have degraded or we are combining photos for a natural pose into one scene. I love my job. The most gratifying part of my job is hearing back from my clients after they have received their paintings. I cannot count how many times I have heard back with tears of joy. This truly moves my heart as I feel the impact on just how much we have made someone extremely happy.

If you're thinking of having Doug paint a photo in canvas I would say do it without question.He does amazing work as well as his time for getting back to you with questions is great.I had a photo of my sisters dog made for her and its phenominal!!! GREAT PLACE TO WORK WITH...

Over a period of several years I've commissioned dozens of paintings from Doug Ames' service Anything Painted on Canvas. They were almost always of excellent quality and very reasonably priced. The most popular of all artwork for us is Oil Painting Realism. However, the popularity of other mediums that we do is gaining public awareness and is an art awareness with many enthusiasts...Oil realism is where the artist follows extremely close to the photo to capture the most realistic view of the subject, yet there are things that a photo cannot possible capture that an artist can. That is the touch of the hand. Camera's can only perform to their design. This is due to the mechanics of a camera. A photo is going to have a rather flat appeal to it..It is not this way with an oil painting. Yet until a person has that moment with an oil painting in live view and in front of them, any explanation cannot explain that stunning beauty of the true art of an oil painting. Especially true when it is of those whom you love.
