The reality...real and lasting transformation takes time...it is NOT a linear trajectory that occurs in two weeks, or even a month. Life happens and old habits die hard. Eating less and moving more is not a complete and accurate recipe for weight loss, fitness and long term success. Simply following the next great "meal plan" will not provide the real tools for lasting change. At Primal Warrior Coaching we believe learning and mastering fundamental movement patterns and healthy-eating habits are the twin-pillars for optimal fitness and nutrition. If you can't hip-hinge while maintaining core stability, you shouldn't deadlift! If you aren't drinking enough water and/or whole-foods aren't the building blocks of your diet, you shouldn't worry about what protein powder or multi-vitamin supplement is best. We believe self-empowerment is a critical life-skill that can be taught and learned. As a fitness/ wellness coaches and massage therapist, we strive to guide our clients in its pursuit. I hired Jon in April and I must confess my heart really wasn’t in the process. I wanted to be healthy and lose weight, but I really was not committed. Jon was great, he was patient, he figured out how quickly I became bored and changed up my work outs on a regular basis. We have worked out in the backyard, in the garage, in the house, parks and hiking. He didn’t question whether I lost weight or gained weight, he simply focused on the now. I am so grateful for his initial attitude, because at that point if he had pushed too hard, I would have quit. At some point along our journey I became committed. I no longer hire Jon, now I work with him to improve my life. I pick his brain for infinite nutritional knowledge, as well as practical ways to get better choices in my life daily. Jon comes up some ingenious ideas that work for my lifestyle, not just the “off the shelf”, straight out of some wellness magazine answers. He asks how I am doing things now and then we make minor changes that I can stick with. I am an all or nothing kind of person and Jon regularly reminds me that just a little change will get me further down the road than no change and if I go all in there is strong possibility I will see failure and quit. Or as Jon says “Some IS EVERYTHING!” I have had many trainers, but NONE who reads me so well and regularly speaks to me in my language, keeping me on the right track. His creativity to my work outs and his dedication to directing me in my wellness choices have been invaluable. While I was in Houston for 3 months, Jon trained me utilizing the tools I had in my home in Houston and Skype! I have had lower back pain for at least 15 years and between Jon and my chiropractor I have been pain free for a few months. Recently my back was really bothering me and I was afraid it was going to be a long drawn out process, but within two “body works” from Jon and two chiropractor appointments, and I am back to being pain free again. So, in addition to his physical training and nutrition information, you also have access to someone who goes far beyond the typical massage therapist. Jon understands how your body should move and what is preventing it from operating optimally and he can help you get your full range of motion back. Jon is not only a trainer and massage therapist; he is truly a wellness coach with a trainer’s education. He invests in understanding his clients and creates environments to assist them in living a healthier life. I have often tell others, I think I am getting the type of treatment from a staff of trainers, wellness professionals and massage therapists that would be available to a professional athlete. I feel so much better, physically and emotionally, and I must admit I do like that my clothes are getting bigger all the time.

I was originally seeking a personal trainer to get in shape, I have used personal trainers in the past. My experience in the past was to receive an exercise program to follow. With Jon, I get much more than that...Jon takes the time to understand my strengths and weaknesses and explains the "why" to everything he does. He is extremely thorough, professional and a really nice guy! He has taught me so much about my current physical condition and has a very deliberate plan on what we will work on, including diet. I also get motivational messages throughout the week from Jon that keeps my health top of mind. He is much more than I bargained for and has far exceeded my expectations. I am 56 years old and I feel that I am getting quality over quantity with Jon. I would highly recommend him to individuals of any age.

Jon is truly an outstanding trainer and person! He has exceeded my expectations - my #1 requirement I wanted/needed was to reduce my chronic pain and learn the proper way to exercise so that I stop getting injured and giving up. My #2-4 goals were to tone up, increase my energy and lose weight. In just under 2 months, I am extremely satisfied with my progress. Jon has educated me on the big picture - the components and steps of becoming fit and staying healthy for a lifetime. He has taught me about my body and instructed me on corrective exercises that have ELIMINATED the stiffness, limited mobility, pain and fatigue I have struggled with for so many years. He has taught me how to use my Elliptical to build a base to get my heart rate and metabolism functioning. He has taught me proper breathing so that I am using my full body rather than my upper thoracic - especially during exercising. He has worked wonders on me with myofascial bodywork/massage - helping me move and function again. We have discussed nutrition, diet and after his recommendations - I finally feel that I am making wise choices of what my body needs. Under his training and wisdom on what would be most effective for me to eat, I banished my muffin tops and have increased energy and improved mental clarity. He had increased my self-awareness and self-knowledge in a way that I cannot describe. He doesnt just coach/train - he educates, motivates, and is sincerely engaged in teaching me HOW TO TAKE CARE OF ME and MY BODY - not just now, a quick fix, but for a lifetime. Recently, as we trained on core strength and balance, I listened to him with great admiration as I discovered how to brace my muscles to protect my spine and how I have always stood in a way that has perpetuated my back pain. It was an Aha! moment when I vividly realized - my mind became deeply aware of my muscles and how they connect and work together. It struck me how incredible lucky I am that I found Jon. Jon is not just a trainer or therapist. He is honestly gifted in what he knows and how he does it - his application of knowledge, his ability to work with people - to reach them. He is passionate about it and he is successful at it. It is powerful to be on the receiving end of someone who truly loves what he does and is good at it. I consider Jon to be a "walking/talking instruction manual for my body - the one I all should have born with!". I have been inquisitive and determined to get it right his time, and I am - with Jon's patience and knowledge. He is simply stellar - a real professional. I have had at least 5 other trainers I have worked with in the past 10 years - Jon is eons beyond them in what I am gaining from his experience and ability. i strongly encourage anyone who REALLY wants to know their body and to make changes to consider Jon. Excellent trainer! When i first started working out, my original goal was to lose weight. Not only did i lose the weight, but also gained the motivation to push myself and change my bad eating habits. When i first started, i was far from doing any strenuous workouts because i had bad form and low endurance. During the time i spent training with Jon, i became so much stronger and faster. Also, with the proper coaching he gave me, a lot of the pains and joint issues i had dissapeared because i was using proper body mechanics! The workouts themselves are surprisingly tough. There were times where i thought the workouts would be easy... Oh man was i wrong. Even the easy looking ones would wear you out because Jon modifies them so that they give you the challenge you need. Not once did i leave a session thinking "that was easy!". As for my diet, it was far from healthy before i started. The advice and plans that he gave me for eating healthy helped so much! Changing my eating habits gave me more energy and helped me lose the weight without having to starve myself. Now i only eat healthy because junk food no longer has the allure it once had. Jon is definetly an excellent trainer. He was always professional, and very attentitve to each person's abilities. I definetly would recommend him for anybody that wants to get into shape! -Nick, Goodyear

Jon is the best. I have been working out with him for 6 months. I am currently working out twice a week. I was out of shape and needed a kick in the butt. Jon did just that. It’s nice having someone there to keep things on track. There are plenty of days when I come home tired and don’t feel like working out. Jon shows up at the door and gets things moving and by the time I know it the tiredness is gone and I’m running and jumping and lifting. Everything always feels better after the workout is done. It’s also nice having someone there to make sure form is proper so no injuries occur. Stretching is something I always used to underestimate and now it has become a vital part of my routine. Knowing how to stretch and why things need to be stretched in a certain way is very helpful. Nutrition is one of the bigger factors in weight loss and Jon knows his stuff. He gives great recommendations and is always coming up with new ideas for tasty but healthy foods. My weight is down. I feel better. I have more energy. I can move better. I am standing up straighter. I look better. My vitals have improved. It took just one step to get started, one email but 6 months later I am very happy I made the step and couldn’t be happier with the results. Jon has a great knowledge of the human body and has a great passion for what he does. Always positive and always motivating. I couldn't give him a higher recommendation.
