Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Call and ask questions!! Find out what each company specializes in. Social, Mobile and internet marketing is changing and evolving every day. Make sure that company is up on the latest technologies.
Also, find out if you can take some control of your marketing efforts. Some companies may not want to, but it's nice to know if it is an option. For instance, we have some clients that want us to teach them the necessary steps to help keep themselves in the leading spots in local search after we initially set them up. We show them and guide them how to help themselves contribute to their own success.
We help clients understand how to maintain their websites after initial setup so that they aren't reliant upon us for making any changes or updates that they want to do. It's not that we don't want to handle it all for them, it's just another option for those that want to be more hands on.
Make sure that there are reports or ways to measure the successes of your marketing efforts. We give our clients monthly reports showing the additional web traffic secured from our efforts. If we aren't doing our job, you will know and we will fix it.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. The satisfaction of seeing more traffic being sent to the client has to be the most gratifying thing about our business and my job. The customer is happy and it solidifies your bond with that customer. It really is a great feeling.
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. Hmmm..I guess I would have to say that I wish more people knew just how incredible powerful the internet is today. There are some incredible FREE sources out there that with a little bit of time and a little bit of effort, the results are incredible. Social media and mobile are really bringing today's businesses incredible opportunities.
The second thing I wish customers knew is that although efforts online do somewhat change things overnight, there is still patience that is needed for internet marketing. Google bots collect information sometimes nightly, sometimes weekly, sometimes monthly and sometime even over longer durations. Google local search used to be collected every 15 days, it is now longer than 30 days. This means that a listing can sometimes take 30-60 days to take effect. The downside is that sometimes clients try to do listings themselves and due to mistakes, they delay their listings for 30-60 days and then try to have us change it overnight. The wait is well worth the additional FREE traffic that eventually comes your way.
