FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is based on the size of the furniture, the type of fabric, the level of soiling, and the distance for travel. I always try to keep pricing fair and transparent. From time to time, new businesses in the market (including myself when starting out) may offer first-time customer discounts to help people try their service. These discounts are usually applied to jobs over a certain amount, for example $150–$200, depending on location and the type of work. Many companies also offer repeat-customer discounts to say thank you and encourage long-term relationships. It is also helpful for customers to know the difference between Basic Cleaning and Deep Cleaning, as the price will depend on the level of work needed. Some companies also offer “premium” add-ons such as faster drying. Normally, regular air-drying is included. If you need express drying because of guests or time sensitivity, that can usually be added for an extra fee. My goal is always to explain options clearly so there are no surprises, and to help customers choose what best fits their needs and budget.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start by thanking the customer and explaining that I use professional equipment and eco-friendly, pet- and kid-safe solutions. I also share my Google profile with before/after photos and reviews. Then I ask for a few photos or the number of seats on the couch to give an accurate quote and recommend basic or deep cleaning. We schedule a time, and I send a reminder about an hour before I arrive. When I get there, I introduce myself, explain the process, and ask permission to use an outlet and water if needed. At the start, I let the customer know that most stains can be removed, but not all are guaranteed. After the job is done, I show the results, explain which stains came out and which didn’t, kindly ask for a review, and wrap up.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received hands-on training while working for a cleaning company, where I learned upholstery and carpet cleaning techniques, including stain and odor removal and proper fabric care. I also gained a lot of real on-the-job experience. In addition, I continue learning through practice, professional resources, and working with different types of materials.
