Introduction: Being creative in the moment is one of the most often overlooked skills needed to take a subject from being simply documented and make it into something special and memorable. But it is that very skill that separates the professionals from the rest of the crowd with a camera or phone in their hand. We know intuitively what will make a great image even better and look for angles and lighting that will bring it to life in a unique way. I like to think that the years of having a camera in my hand have helped me to hone that skill, and I am always learning new techniques and technologies to stay sharp in my chosen craft.
When a client views my work with their critical eye toward what their vision and expectations are, and tells me how happy they are with the images I am showing them, that makes me happy. Also, finding new and unique projects that allow me to learn something new or experiment with some new perspective to show the audience and angle they have never considered before, while keeping the story and objective in mind.
