I was the go between for an elderly couple in their mid 80’s, who live next door to me. They asked me to help them. It was Sunday 8:30 pm, and they said that their AC was not working, and if I could check it out for them. I found that the air was coming out warm. Everything was working except the compressor. Mind you it had reached 115 outside, and reached 87 in the house. I called several contractors that I knew, but they could not make it till mid-afternoon next day. They declined the offer to come and stay the night with my wife , and I. The temp in the house was climbing. So, I began calling. And was connected to Thumbtack. The contractor arrived around a little before 11:00, and found that it was a capacitor. Which, I know is a $15 - 20. 00 part. Granted it was an after hour call, but charging $360.00 plus the service call of $40. That is totally taking advantage of people. Especially 2 elderly ones on a fixed income. Normal charge would of not exceeded $150, and the service call would of been waived. An additional $75 - 100.00 for after hours Is understandable. But to charge $250 more? He should of mentioned that before he came out.

First and foremost we would like to thank you Pat for taking the time to help your neighbor in his time of need. However the customer was not charged $360.00 for the service performed that night. The total bill was for $260.00 and homeowner under no influence gave our technician a $40.00 tip. We have also received a personal email from the customer thanking us for coming out on a short notice on a late Sunday night. We are also very pleased to mention that since our initial repair, the homeowner has chosen us to do a major repair on his system and once again was very pleased with our cost and services, we are happy to know that we will be the company he chooses for any future services and repairs. We have valid service records of all work performed. Once again Pat, we greatly appreciate your decision to help your neighbor and for also choosing Grand Air.

    Always taking classes to keep current since the industry changes every year. I am currently working to obtain the following certifications: Energy Star and AZ Heat Pump Council Master Technician. I also read industry publications and search out industry news daily.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    My father in law owns his own business and I worked for him and loved it.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

    Service, repair, and new system upgrades.
