FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
If you've never had voice lessons before, the first lesson is more of a consultation and is always free. That's where we get to know each other a little, discover your goals, and establish a baseline to start your lessons at. After that, lessons are $25 per half-hour or $40 per hour. You may pre-pay for as many lessons as you wish. Lesson cancellations require at least 24 hours' notice; we reschedule 1 time per missed lesson. If the reschedule is missed, that lesson fee is non-refundable. If I must cancel or reschedule a lesson, if we are unable to reschedule it for any reason, I will refund or credit you for that lesson date. Most students start with 30 minutes and work their way up to a full hour as their skill and repertoire develops. One-time "tune-up" lessons for experienced singers are $40 per hour.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Singing is an interesting field, in that it's not necessary to have a higher degree to be proficient; however, it helps to stay current on the trends in pop music. Who's on the radio? Who's on YouTube breaking new ground in independent music? In addition to keeping up with the current scene, I'm constantly practicing to keep up my own vocal chops, and constantly learning about new musical genres and practicing my instruments.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My mother is a music educator and I started volunteering in her classrooms when I was 13 years old. I was very lucky to have professional musicians in my life, from both my parents to my grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles on both sides of the family who fostered musicality in all of us kids. Becoming a musician and a teacher myself was a natural progression, and literally "all in the family."
