I wanted to leave a 5 star review for this business but unfortunately I can't. Firstly, this isn't a reflection of the actual work done. The 3 man crew removed the items as needed. However, there were two missteps. The crew was an hour late so if you're tight on time, that may be a factor. I wasn't notified about their new ETA so in effect, I was just waiting till they arrived. I was flexible so it was not as bothersome...but noted.My biggest issue though is that upon arriving at my bldg, the lead guy IMMEDIATELY tells me ("oh, you're in a walkup bldg and we were not informed. Any floors above 2 will be extra"). Have to underscore what he told me was my biggest concern come to life. Having read dozens of reviews on this board & Google about up-charging from haulers, I was hyper vigilant about not being bamboozled. To then be up against that very issue within minutes was infuriating. Tried my best to keep my cool but the crew lead was insistent that he needed to "see the volume of stuff first" before making a final determination. What???!!Let me point out, I went through the proper channels on Yelp and that I DID relay in advance that I lived in a 4th fl walkup. I showed him my message chain on Yelp with his supervisor. I didn't have a number to call his base and he didn't seem motivated to call his boss to clear up matters. To be later told my price would change allegedly due to their miscommunication was badly done. I also told the crew lead the quote his company provided me was in line with multiple other estimates I received and that I would have gone with another company if they were going to come in higher than their competitors. I informed him we shouldn't proceed then if more $$ was going to be required on the spot.Ultimately...and reluctantly, he decided to move forward with the original quoted price but imagine my discomfort level being a woman alone in my apt surrounded by three strangers w/ one having indicated I wasn't charged properly. I didn't like the implication that I was underpaying. He was not threatening but just want to say, I felt vulnerable. It didn't make for a promising start. Felt I needed to be overly nice to ease the tension afterwards but it left a bad taste.Sadly, this isn't a business I can recommend wholeheartedly.

The reason for my poor review of Gutter Your Clutter is due to the lack of transparency and integrity of the owners of this business. They did not deliver on all that they promised, over charged me, and jeopardized my relationship with a client. I want to note that the employees who collected trash were great. They did an excellent job and were very friendly.We contacted Gutter Your Clutter many weeks in advance of our clients event and explained what was required. There was to be 2 separate pickups during the same day and being on time for these pickups was critical to the events success. We approximated there would be 100 large bags of trash to cart away. We were quoted rates for 1/4 and 1/2 truck loads. These carting experts said 100 bags would fill up no more than 1/2 a truck. We agreed to the rates provided.On the day of the event, we did our due diligence and called Gutter Your Clutter 3 hours before the 1st scheduled pickup to make sure we were on their calendar and that they were on track to be on time. We were told yes. It turns out that they would arrive 1 & 1/2 hours late for the 1st pickup. This was not ok, and it didnt go over well with our client. After the event ended and the 2nd pickup was completed, our credit card was charged for more than 2 times the amount quoted for the maximum truck load that was quoted. We took this issue up with the owners of the company (who were the ones to give us the original quote) and they were less than helpful. When mentioning the fact that they were late and that they did not honor their prices, we got responses such as What do you want, its NYC traffic. Youre lucky we didnt arrive later. and; You can complain to Yelp if you want, they wont do anything. This was only an estimate. This suggests to me that they know what they are doing and have probably done this to countless others before. Its the ole Bait & Switch. After numerous emails (which went unanswered) and calls (where our phone number was blocked, and we had to call from a different number to get them to pick up) our requests for a refund of half of our money never got honored.As a business owner myself I was looking to build a relationship with this company to drive business their way. However, after my personal experience with them I would not use them again nor align myself with them.
