We’re happy to talk to you about virtual options but for now, we are encouraging everyone to practice social distancing. All our best, Katie & Shawn ***************** We teach the whole person, and we care deeply about designing a dance curriculum and approach specifically tailored to you. Your dance education should be as unique as you are, and we are here to support you in your dance journey every step of the way! Our pricing and process are transparent and easy: try out an intro lesson for $60. Our regular lessons are $95/each, or purchase in sets of 5, 20, or more to save money (all pricing is on our website). All our wedding lessons are at a flat rate of $85, because we believe that you should take the number you *need*, not get hustled into some one-size-fits-all package. Shawn and I are both tireless advocates for good movement, no matter the style of dance. Working from an aligned, natural, and well-supported body creates beautiful movement and avoids pain and fatigue. I am also a long-time Pilates instructor (available for private mat and Reformer instruction) and we have worked with a number of clients who are recovering from injury, illness, or dealing with chronic conditions. Dance and movement: they're the best medicine! The best part of being a dance teacher is the chance to connect personally with so many amazing people, and to help them achieve success they never thought they could, faster and better than they ever thought possible. We love empowering people to inhabit their own bodies and physical presence fully. Whether you want to perform, or compete, or dance socially, or reconnect with your partner, we'll teach a style of movement that's appropriate to you. (After all, competitive ballroom is beautiful and amazing, but maybe not exactly the feel you want for dancing with your loved one in your kitchen - know what I mean?) We care about YOUR goals, whatever they may be.

Katie gave me an hour long dance lesson and it was probably the most helpful dance lesson I've ever had. Also, she's super attentive and an A+ human who knows how to make you laugh. Booked another lesson for next week!! :)

They were absolutely excellent! My then fiancé and I really wanted to do a first dance that was exciting and something we had never done before, but we were nervous about it since we aren't professional dancers. Katie and her partner made us feel so comfortable every step of the way which in turn made us feel confident in our ability to pull off. The incredible choreography. We just performed it this past weekend at our wedding and everyone is still talking about how that was one of the highlights of the reception. We blew them away with our dance and that was all thanks to Katie! Thank you so much for giving us such stellar choreography and for being such a great and wonderful support to us the entire way!

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We teach primarily private lessons, and all the pricing is available on our website. You can buy individual lessons at $95/lesson, or larger packages for slightly reduced rates. We accept cash, checks, or credit cards.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually both of us (Shawn & Katie) will teach the first several lessons as a team. It's useful to get the perspective of both a leader and a follower at the beginning, and if you're coming in as a couple, we can give both of you some professional feedback at the same time. We'll ask you about what you want to get out of your dancing many, many times, because as you learn more and develop your dance experience, that answer often changes. Mostly, we'll make sure you have a great time and head home feeling like a dancer (and with some homework to practice before we see you next!).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Both Shawn and Katie are extensively certified through several major dance organizations (Arthur Murray, Fred Astaire, ISTD) and are registered with the NDCA (the National Dance Council of America). They have both studied under top champions and have trained with some of the best dancers in the world. We are also active members of NASSPDA (the North American Same Sex Partner Dance Association), and enthusiastically train amateur and competitive same-sex dance partnerships. Dance is for EVERYBODY.
