I highly recommend this company. The owner Steve is very straight forward about pricing and wont try to nickle and dime you with small things you don't need to get the job done. Steve is very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions on the spot. The best part about working with Steve is that he is thinking multiple steps ahead. He wants to know what your future plans are so that he can save you money down the road. I am putting in a concrete walkway around the side and back of my new home and Steve recommended I set up irrigation lines for the planter I plan to put along the back fence of my property. By putting in the irrigation now it will save me a significant amount of money in the future because I wont need to dig a trench under the walkway to run the line. As a Marine Vet. Steve is able to manage his workers well and get the job done quickly, and if there is a delay for what ever reason he communicates with you immediately so you don't feel like you are out of the loop on your own home improvement project.

I had a previous bad experience with a plumber, and decided to find a more scrupulous person to fix the half-done job. I decided to try out thumbtack, and posted a brief description of the work. Joel was the first of 5 plumbers to reply within the hour. Joel showed up the morning of the job with another employee and reviewed my plumbing issue in detail before going into the crawl space with his associate to double check the situation. He came back out, described the problem, offered short and long term solutions, and we agreed on which route to take. He assigned the work to his employee, and the work was completed in a couple hours. Although he was not the cheapest of those plumbers who replied, I did feel that Joel provided a reasonable price for the work, had great communication, and his employee also had all the necessary parts for the job in his van (eliminating the need to run down to Home Depot or Lowes for parts). Joel's employee was hard-working and he also provided me with before and after photos of the work completed. I am inclined to seek him out again for future home improvement projects (bathroom remodel, roofing).

I have never used Thumbtack before and had previous trouble finding good help in my area. I am pleased to say that Robin worked out great and did a fine job fixing my concrete patio and walkway after a major plumbing disaster. His price was within the other two quotes I received, but he got the job for his eager to help attitude. He got it done on time too. The walkway was stained red and he nailed the color in the patch. Better then I expected. I would hire him again.

My Husband and I hired Falanisi and his crew to do our driveway, knock down a 3ft wall along the front sidewalk and rebuild a 1ft retainer wall, fill in concrete under our living room window and fill in the voids on both sides of our house with concrete. Falanisi offered to pull out the existing concrete on both sides of the house and pour all new concrete to make it look better. Im glad we decided to do it his way. This only raised my cost a little bit. It was at the max of my budget but worth every penny. Falanisi and Jason started on Monday and on Friday they poured the concrete. Everything went as planned. Falanisi said it would take a week and it did. After they poured the concrete the next day I noticed a chunk broken near the forming by a steak. I called Falanisi right away and sent him a picture of it. He reassured me he could fix it and he did. They were very professional, fun to work with and now i cant wait until we are ready for our next project. Falanisi and Jason we just want to say thank you for all of your very hard work and working with us. Without you we we still would not have a beautiful driveway, and new wall. You two ROCK. We will be calling you back for the next job. Again thank you for EVERYTHING.

I’ve worked with 4 contractors that I’ve found inn thumbtack. Ramiro is the very first, the VERY FIRST, to be on time all the days he worked for me. He his crew was professional, they didn’t ask me for anything, including lunch which I offered; all I had to do was stay out of their way and let them do their magic, which turned out better than I anticipated.

Samm's work resulted in a very nice fence at a reasonable price. The work was done promptly and the clean up and removal of the old fence was done well with no mess left behind or damage to other parts of the property. I would hire him again for futrure work. He also did some concrete work for my neighbor which came out very nice.

What a difference. I love my floor! I recently purchased a new home and was wanting to finish the garage, drywall, paint the works. I had a very unpleasant experience with 2 previous contractors and was actually about to give up on completion of the project. Sooo glad I did not. Antonio and team were on time, knowledgeable and actually take pride in what they do. I have one more project and looking forward to working with them again.

Greenview Construction did a fantastic job for us. We needed a long hillside concrete steps as well as replacing a set of old wooden steps. Germain was very professional and informative. We appreciate his effort to work with our budget and he made some very good suggestions. His crew were on time and courteous. The steps are fantastic; they constructed it in such a way that they are very comfortable to walk on. It does not feel like a workout walking up and down the steps. We could not ask for more. It exceed our expectation.

Jordan went above and beyond our expectations. We had the inside of our house painted, new electrical plugs and outlets, new baseboards, and wood tile installed. We had many problems arise in our house with our concrete slab. He went out of his way for us to get it leveled and fixed right. Therefore, my tile floor turned out leveled, perfect, and not bumpy. He is a man of his word which is hard to find these days. I will hire him again. Thank you to Jordan and all his employees. We love our new home!

I needed help fixing a fence, laying a concrete floor, and demolishing a patio. Abraham promptly came to my house, did all measurements, and provided a quote. The final price was very reasonable compared with other bids. The workers started the work quickly as promised, and the entire project was completed within a week. Edwin addressed all my questions and requests, and I was very happy with the end results. I would highly recommend All City Builders for any exterior work that you need to get done.

Project: patio concrete extension: addition is 24ft x 13.5ft. After receiving multiple estimates from other contractors, Frank came out and spent time going through my concrete plans and offered great suggestions and a competitive estimate. He was thorough in explaining the project and outlined a specific timeframe for completion. He was prompt, communicated his arrival and departure and always showed up as planned. He is a licensed contractor which added to his credentials. I've hired many contractors in the past and he stands among the best. Glad I listened to my gut feeling when choosing him for my patio project. Thank you Frank .... highly recommend. Turned out great. Don't cut corners on concrete needs ... it will haunt you down the line. Give Frank a call and chance to earn your business.

Richard was punctual and provided excellent service. He repaired the crack in our driveway quickly and it looks great! I don't know how he made the lifted and crumbled side meet the other but you can't even tell there was a crack. Another company said our repair did not meet their $500 minimum and suggested we buy a bag of crack filler! Richards price was great and coupled with his great work, I would recommend him for any type of concrete work.

The work that this company did to fix my steps/porch was great! The owner is a really kind guy who was extremely attentive to what my wants were for this restoration and he and his workers completed the job quicker than I had expected! They showed up on time and kept their work area very clean, materials and rubble weren’t laying everywhere like I’ve seen on other jobs. The contractor also always made sure to contact me regarding any changes or issues which I truly appreciated. In the end Nava Concrete did an excellent job with my steps and I am truly pleased with their work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. When hiring a concrete contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
  • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
  • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
  • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
  • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
  • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.

What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time. When hiring a paving contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.
