FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Since we are a small company, we can keep our prices very low. The cost to the client will vary depending on the location, type of property and its surveying history. The price for a basic boundary confirmation/setting is $650 - $950. If it is a larger job with much less surveying history, then a "Record of Survey" will likely be required, and the job will cost $1200 - $2500 or so. For flood surveys and FEMA flood map changes, we charge $350 to $550 for a standard Elevation Certificate and about $250 extra for a LOMA map change, which removes the mandate for flood insurance.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I need to understand what exactly the client needs done. They are either building a fence, buying or selling a home or they need to reduce their flood insurance. Once I know their goals and the location of their property, I can research the property records, and give an accurate quote for my services.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Like most Land Surveyors, most of my training was at the direction of Licensed Professionals while on the job. I was blessed with the opportunity to work and train with some of my favorite people at CLE Engineering. They mentored me and were patient as I learned how to perform boundary, topographic, construction and hydrographic surveys. Earlier though, I worked in ground reconnaissance and surveillance in the Marine Corps Infantry, and dealt with, navigation routes, map corrections and building planning. I've also earned a B.A. in Psychology, and then my Professional Land Surveyor's License in the State of California.
