FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most of my projects for non-commercial work is $100/hr. Prints are available in many sizes and materials. I can generally quote a project as long as I have a clear understanding of what my client is looking for. I will turn down projects that I feel are outside my skills. (I've not experienced this in any of my projects.)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I want to first understand what my client(s) are looking for. This allows me to make suggestions and get a good feeling of the results my clients are looking for. For weddings I like to see the wedding site at the same time of day as the event is scheduled for. Having the right equipment is very important. My wife generally works with weddings to take photos and in particular to assist the bride she is getting those special shots. I prefer smaller weddings and in general I don't do weddings in large interior locations as I do not have lighting equipment for these types. I will edit the even photos generally on the next day of the event. I expect my clients to choose the photos they want for their wedding. I can provide wedding books. It is very important in my mind that the key wedding members help design their book.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I teach Lightroom and ProShow Gold. This keeps me sharp and contributes to the community through Placer School for Adults. I follow the trends in equipment through Outdoor Photographer and DP Review (camera equipment reviewers), my fellow photographers often upgrade and share information, and of course there is the internet. I'm a member of the Photographic Society of America, the Gold Rush Camera Club of north California, the Placer Camera Club in Auburn, Placer Arts, Lincoln Arts, and the ViewPoint Gallery. These groups focus on learning and producing ever improved images.
