Introduction: I'm a giging musician in the Inland Empire playing guitar with my family's dance band since the age of fifteen and I also perform with a Jug band in L.A. My teaching style is to get the student playing music right away while helping to build in them a more efficient use of music theory; beginner or otherwise. From the first lesson that grammar is woven into practice using popular examples of tunes and songs the student already relates to. We build the needed scale and chords and proceed from there to develop a repertoire that is practical for performance and for jamming with others.
Taking a beginner and setting them on a path to musical enjoyment with confident knowledge or helping a long time player out of a rut, I find to be very rewarding. My primary aim is to generate excitement for listening to music with new ears and playing the instrument fluently with other musicians.

About Riley's Music
I have long learned music by watching and hearing it being performed and for the most part that's the way I learned how to play the Guitar. Although I could play a lot of different songs I could not go very far outside of the limited method of hearing a song in order to play it. I really had no understanding of musical structure and what was taking place in a song. So I could not follow when playing with others. Tim Riley taught me how to recognize the structure of a song so that I could play with purpose.
Anybody wanting to learn how to play and step up their understanding of music will not go wrong seeking Tim instruction. Tim is one of the few that really helped me cut through a lot of the confusing concepts of music. He stayed on task until I got it

I took guitar lessons from Tim for about a year, and Tim was my favorite guitar teacher. He is a very passionate teacher with a love for music. While I was learning with him he encouraged me to learn music theory and introduced me to many other genres of music to learn and play. While teaching he was very helpful and patient with any problems I had. I would recommend Tim to anyone wanting to learn how to play.
